View Full Version : Frame rate problem - 50fps - need to convert to 25fps

Firstly, let me say, after 2 days using the trial version, I'm hooked.

VideoReDo is UNBELIVEABLY simple to use, even for a complete video novice like me who can't understand user manuals or guides about DVDs.

I'll be forking out the dough for this AMAZING product.

Anyhoo, my problem is that I have 2 TV captures that I've run through VideoReDo & converted to ad free vob files.

I was able to "Author" one of these captures to make a magnificent DVD that absolutely floored me with how smoothly it went.

Then I decided to attempt to "Author" a multiple title DVD using the two vob files.

This is where it all went wrong, I got an error saying that the second vob file had a frame rate of 50fps instead of the PAL requirement of 25fps.

I don't know how this happened or how to fix it, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Could this be caused by capturing one HDTV & one SDTV stream? I don't know if I actually did this, but it was just a thought.

Thanks again

Was the capture a "HD" channel broadcasting at 576p or similar ? I know that they are difficult or impossible to author without downconversion

You can see the video properties by loading your video and clicking on Tools>Show Proram Info. That will give you video dimensions and frame rate. Murray is correct, it is 50 FPS then you're stuck having to do a down conversion.

Hi guys,
thanks for your quick replies.

OK, I am not sure what TV definition I captured in (because I've owverwritten the PVR settings), but it seems to make sense to me that this particular capture was HD.

I used VideoReDo to edit out the ads & converted it to a vob file & it is definately 50fps.

Pardon my ignorance, but I would be stoked if you could let me know how to a "down-conversion".

Many thanks in advance

You could try a product called XtreamMPEG by Mediostream. It works rather fast. Trial version available that watermarks the output.

I recall that TMPGenc Plus or one of the similar video processing suites can be used to achieve the conversion. It would have been listed on the Australian www.dba.org.au forum site most probably, as some Oz broadcasters transmit some "HD" material (many would not agree that it is HD) in 576p. I tried to search for the recommended approach but was unable to find it. But you may want to search or ask for advice there

Hi again,
thanks for the advice.

I tried to use TMPGEnc Plus to re-encode the video to 25fps, but no matter how I try, TMPGEnc will not open any of my videos edited with VideoReDo.

Reading some other forum questions, it appears to me that this may have more to do with the fact that my video is captured on a TwinHan PCI-Ter Digital TV card.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi again,
I just downloaded the trial verson of XtremeMPEG & was able to successfully (& easily) down-convert the frame rate from 50pfs to 25fps.

Now I can use the file with DVD-Lab.

Cheers
