Now that "DVD Decrypter" has been forced to shut down.. what program would you suggest a user use to extract files from their DVD-RECORDER disc's so that we could edit them in VideoReDo?

We will be accelerating our own development efforts to read off DVDs. This is for use with home recorded DVDs. There will be no breaking of copy protection.
Also, we are evaluating a couple of interim freeware alternatives to determine their compatibility with VideoReDo.

unfortunately nothing stands still. Copy protection keeps changing. won't be too long and the current version of dvddecrypter will no longer be of any use :(

you can use eg dvd43 which is like anydvd an on-the-fly driver and it's free and it works and you can use vrd directly with it.
but honestly: i don't care about the unbreakable protections they introduce, i'm worried more about the dvd specifications they break.

Looks like it's still available from videohelp.com:

I'd personally use AnyDVD from the creators of CloneCD and CloneDVD...
Just give it a try ...

dvddecrypter is dead, forget it.
i'm still wondering how a computer program can become illegal and weapons don't as in both cases it all depends on the users and what they do with it. guess it's all about the money and how the products serve the industry. weapons are pro industry and dvddecrypter is contra industry. so that's why the one is and the other one isn't.

I'm not sure why folks here are saying DVD Decrypter is "dead". Yes, they seem to have been chased off their original site.

It's been mentioned before not to post links to such siftware.
BTW that site is not run by the author of dvddecrypter but a mere enthusiast. If you want an uptodate decrypter then try dvdfab decrypter dvd43 or anydvd.
cheers
