I've been using Build 225 for awhile now, seemed to work good. But now I decided I would get build 228 now whenever I edit my file I get a Video Ring Buffer Overflow. It ouputed my file fine in 225.
This is a regular SVCD quailty mpeg2 file, not with 3:2 pulldown this time.
I know about that problem, someone also has it, but they are going on vacation tomorrow so I can't get their sample. Haven't been able to isolate it with my own test files.
Any chance you can isolate it to a small segment and upload it? Or perhaps just mail me a CD or DVD with the source material?
Thanks.

strange I can't seem to isolate it. It happens near the last cut, so I cut that part out and did a process on that. And keep going back on cuts, but for some reason I can't get that video ring buffer overflow unless i'm doing a edit on the full file.
guess I could send a cd-r of the source its just a tv show. but snail mail is slow the other guy could be back before its gets there. just tell me where to send it and I can do that.
Where are you located? Are you in the US, or somewhere else?

I'm in Canada, but it looks like the unedited file won't even fit on a cd-r. guess I could put if on a dvd+r but thats kinda expensive. its 961mb. sigh I really could use broadband right about now.
As a first step, why don't you email me the VideoReDo.log file (as an attachment please). Send to support@VideoReDo.com
Thanks.

Got it thanks. What kind of audio is your file, MPEG or AC3?

i forgot Dan, i had the problem as well on certain vob files, dunno if this is related to the svcd problem. i switched to frame accurate editing and then everything went fine. do you still need a sample?
I've just posted Beta Build 231 on the FTP site. You might want to give that a try. The GOP accurate and frame accurate output code has been merged together.

hi Dan,
i've got a file where i can reproduce the error. unfortunately it's 100 mb large, so i cannot upload it. the error is still in build 231 present.
when i select frame accurate editing, then the error doesn't occur.
what can i do in order to help you?
regards
harry
I definately will need a sample. Can you get it to fail with a smaller sized file? One that can be uploaded?

you maybe have to use the project file i used, will be also upped.
Thanks, let me know when done.

I am getting this occasionally from files recorded in SageTV. I have been watching this thread and offer to test the fix. I have a file that exhibits the problem just waiting for the fix.
thanx -gary-
Gary, New beta build 233 was just uploaded. Can you test it against your Sage file?

Well Dan, so far so good. The first 2 hr movie with edits completed fine with the app running along with a sleeping Sagetv. By the time I got to the third movie, I was burning a file to dvd, writing a file with Videoredo, and watching Sagetv while it was recording 2 more streams in the background. The P4 2.8 is about 20% and all of the drive lights are lit up. Now we are getting somewhere ;)
The only strange issue is that when playing one of the three files written with Videoredo in Sagetv, I can't navigate forward, only backward. The other two files navigate fine in both directions.
I'll watch this closely in the next few weeks.
I appreciate your help.

Can't imagine why Sage won't navigate the one file. How about other software players?

I can't seem to duplicate the navigation problem. I checked the dvds I burnt yesterday and they work ok.
Sagetv has lousy file management and I think it became confused with the same title residing on both hard drive and dvd drive. I'll keep an eye on it.

I have the same problem. I have bin catching my file by Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2. I have bin using constant bitrate at 3 000 000bit/s.
When switching to frame accurate editing VRD outputs god files.

I have been playing with different mpeg2 parms. The problem files were 3.5mb vbr. I switched back to 4.4mb cbr but haven't yet had anything come down the pipe that needed editing.
The whole idea is to make this 'archive a movie' thing as simple, quick and reliable as possible. I've been real happy with 233 so far. I'd be happier if I could create a cut list within sagetv.
You are watching sagetv and see something you want to keep. Hit the IN button on the remote, navigate to the end, hit the OUT button. Approve options on a popup menu and continue to cut or create a library file. VideoRedo does the heavy lifting with a sagetv inferface.
I'd pay someone for this ;)
Does SageTV provide any kind of cut or commercial skip list? SnapStream does and we are able to use their skip file as direct input into VideoReDo.

No it doesn't. The SS functionality is an 'auto commercial skip' that really isn't very reliable but shows the possiblity of a more manual feature.
From what I have seen in the studio product, it shouldn't be difficult to do in sage. You can assign buttons to events, write text files, and call other programs so I think the architecture is there.
I wonder how many users would find this feature as useful as I would.
I'll take a look at Sage again, its been a while since I've looked at their product. VideoReDo keeps me busy :)
I did a quick scan of the Sage site and didn't see anything about SageTV studio other than a one line mention on one page. Did I miss something?

I probably should have more clear. Studio is still in private beta test. I am a tester so I have the app. I signed an NDA so I need to be a bit careful about what I say.
I will post to the private forum and attempt to get consensus from the group. I'll attach a project file and see what the programming gurus have to say and keep you posted.
Am I correct in assuming that if I supply the project file, Videoredo can take it from there? Could I run it from a command line?
thanx for your interest -gary-
Am I correct in assuming that if I supply the project file, Videoredo can take it from there? Could I run it from a command line? We will probably have to add support for their project file format (unless its the same as ours or BeyondTVs).
Do you have a contact at Sage we could talk to about becoming part of the beta program?

Let's give it a day or two for the studio gurus to review. In the mean time, if you wish to contact Frey, send me an email.
I didn't think when I posted Dans email address on the forum.
