Below is some discussion that brought us to this thread:
Re: multiple instances of VRD
One thing I noticed, is that my r388 and r391 (each in its own directory) each wanted to use the log file in the r388 folder (!) Not a good sign. :)
This has been the behavior of VideoReDo since day 1. There's one log file, the location of which you can change. But, all builds of the same program, point to one log.
We are looking at permitting some more options on this in the near future.
Re: you put it -where- ?
Well, when I install a new version, I install it into a directory named for the release number.
So, both 388 and 391 were "installed" into their own named directories, and I really expected each to log to its own directory.
All I was asking, is if I'm causing a problem by having multiple copies loaded?
Maybe VRD gets confused, using the wrong file in the wrong directory?
Just a thought. :)
We do the same thing here in the lab. The problem is that the log file location is stored in the registry under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DRD Systems\VideoReDo-Plus\StartUp\LogFileFolder
This value persists between all versions / builds of VideoReDo-Plus.
The timing of your question may be opportune as we have another user who runs multiple instances of VideoReDo on a server at the same time and is requesting multiple logs. Their needs and yours might be slightly different. I can tell you that we will have a multiple logs option within 3-6 weeks.
I have an idea, why not start a thread over on "feature requests" for this topic, and lets see what kind of feedback we get. Other users may be some thoughts to add.
At the very least, it would aid in debugging problems related to one version of VRD+ versus another.
I often pull up two different versions the moment I run into any sort of problem with a new ver.
