I was trying to join/cut some vob files from a DVD I made in the beginning of the year.

Problem is, when I play back the output from videoredo, the audio is all messed up. I can barely understand what people are saying.

I am not sure what program I used to make the DVD with, that was back when I was experimenting with different dvd auther SW.

I am also not sure how to cut up a vob file, to send you a smaller file to look at. I could copy the DVD, and send that, if it would help.

Thanks,
Randy :)

You can cut up the VOB file with VideoReDo. Simply open the VOB file in VideoReDo and use Tools>Options>Trim. This will make a byte-for-byte copy of a portion of the file to the size you specify. Usually 10-20 mb is sufficient. You can then upload the file to: ftp://videoredo:videoredo@ftp.drdsystems.com/uploads/

Then post something here or an email to let us know its there.

Also, which version of VideoReDo are you using? If you aren't on the latest beta build #233, you should probably give that a try.

Hi Dan,
I was using beta 233. Had been using an older version, maybe 25, and then I uploaded 233 to see if it would make a difference, and it did not.

I made an uploads/randytsuch directory.
test vr.mpg is the trimmed vob.
test out.mpg is the videoredo output

All I had to do was reoutput it, with no edits, and the audio gets messed up. Sounds distorted, when I play back with windvd. Sounds OK when I play back with videoredo.

My guess is that you have a setting on Tools>Options>Advanced Streams that creates files which WinDVD doesn't like. I've found that many software DVD players are quite touchy about the internal file formats when usiing LPCM audio.

Please try these settings and see if they work (they did for me). If they do, then let me know what your previous settings were:
Off: Align Each Video Frame
Off: Start Packet On Word Boundary
Off: Add padding to short packets
On: Output PTS with Each Video
On: Output PS Pakc Header with All Packets
Packet length: 2028 - DVD

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the help.
Seems to work fine now, with your s
I had
off
on
off
on
on
2028-dvd

So, the only difference was I had the start packet on word boundary on. I don't remember setting this, I thought it defaulted there, but I could not swear to it.

BTW, forgot to mention, when I had the audio problem, I could also not join two MPG's I had made from the VOB's. I got an error saying the audio was incompatible.

There were two reasons why I bought videoredo, one was for the great support you give, the other was I use DVD-lab, and it's very cool that you output elementary streams, which saves me a step in DVD-lab.

So, the only difference was I had the start packet on word boundary on. I don't remember setting this, I thought it defaulted there, but I could not swear to it. This setting is primarily to support the DigiTV capture card / software player which is used in the UK, Australia, and parts of Europe. It should not be set otherwise. I looked at the code and it doesn't appear to be set by default. If anyone else has this set, and didn't intend to set it, please let me know.
