View Full Version : Audio/video sync problem with Nero

I'm using VRD to recode the .rec files from a Topfield 5800 PVR before burning them to DVD using NeroVision Express 3, and am having lots of problems with keeping audio and video in sync -- this seems to be a common problem with the recent updates of the Nero software, reading other forums.

The final files play OK on the PC before burning, but after burning a DVD the resulting disk has sync problems when played on either the PC (using PowerDVD) or a standalone DVD player.

Using Quickstream Fix seems to cure this, though I've still got to try this with other things like inserting chapter titles in Nero. It didn't seem to happen before upgrading Nero to the latest version, but I can't be sure without uninstalling everything and reinstalling the older version.

Since the files originally came straight from the Topfield hard disk I wouldn't have thought there would be any of the corrupted frame problems; I did use VRD to remove ad breaks, but I don't see why this would introduce an audio/video sync problem like this.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any comment from the VRD developers?

Hilda

Can you author a DVD to a hard drive folder first and check the audio sync. This is to separate a problem between authoring the files and burning to a DVD.

Is Nero rerendering the clips? When you author only to a hard drive folder, observe how long it takes.

having investigated further, and burned the dvd files to hard disk, it appears that only the first segment vob file has the audio sync problems, the other two vob files seem ok.

This shows up on powerdvd replay on the computer and also in the nero burned dvd. Interestingly, the nero showtime program can show the vob files from hard disk but falls over when presented with its own created dvd!
(even the corrected one which had been quickstreamed via VRD!)

So I think the update to the nero suite also is problematical. Anyhow, I have uninstalled this and gone back to the bare nero oem suite without the updates and this plays the dvds fine, so I'll stick with this for now.

THanks for your response and if you want to ask any further questions I'm happy to oblige (I don't get out much :) .
