I purchased VideoReDo hoping that it would help me deal with some files that I have ripped from the hard drive of a 7200 dishplayer. This is a unit that is subscribed to Dishnetwork. When the movies are ripped they are saved as audio.mp2 and video. mpg. When I try to open the video using TMPGEnc DVD Author I get a window that says Could not initialize decoder and it will go no farther. So I thought if I purchased Video ReDo it would help me with these files. However when I try to open the video file .mpg I get an error messeage from video redo that says unable to open the file. In the config window mpg is one of the file types that are listed so I am confused as to why the program won't open with video redo.
I tried to post this in another thread lower down that talks of the same subject but it did not show up so I started this new one. If anyone knows how to get around this problem I would really appreciate the help.

Fred54, I see no one has replied yet. I know we have a lot of Dish customers. I'll contact some of them via email and see if they wouldn't mind responding.

Fred54,
I do not have a 7200, but, if you join the yahoo group dishrip, there are many posters there who use the 7200. I have a PVR501, and I use dishextract and then dishmux, but that only gives me a *.mpg file, which I can read into videoredo with no problems. I do not understand why you get an mp2 AND an mpg file - are you sure it isn't an m2v file instead of an mpg? I have not been able to get videoredo to read a video file that has no sound, so maybe that is the problem. You can use tmpgenc's mpeg tools to mux an m2v/mp2 combo, and the output from that should be an mpg with sound and videoredo can accept that.
I was thinking that there is already a tool for the 7200 that will output the mpg (with sound) directly from the 7200 extract - that would be something found in the "files" section.

Fred, If you're extracting to elemntary streams you'll need to mux them before VideoReDo will edit them. We are looking into adding a mux'r into a future version of VideoReDo.

Jerry,
When I do the ripping from the drive I have a file called ts2ps.exe in the same folder as DishRip.exe and this splits the movie into 2 files. audio.mp2 and video.mpg. I believe the ts2ps exe does the muxing as it is being ripped. I have been successful with this method with some of the movies I think 6 or 7 of them but I have three that are giving me trouble. They are Santa Clause 2 , Kill Bill, and League of Extroidinary Men.
Like i said earlier I was hoping that VideoReDo would help me with these difficult ones. I can't get VR to open any of the video files.
Also I really appreciate the help from both yourself and DanR
