View Full Version : Save as type: M2TS
Hi,
Since we can input M2TS files such as 1920 x 1080i x 25fps AVC/448 Kbps, 48.0 KHz, 6 channels AC-3 (e.g. from my Sony Handycam), will we need to wait long before we get the option to save back to the M2TS file type ?
Will we have to wait until the whole "AVCHD disc" option is released after this pre-release, before we see "Save as type: M2TS" ?
Currently the only thing I can see to do, is to save it as a TS then remux it back to an M2TS using tsMuxeR.
Cheers.

I agree about to have "Save as type: M2TS" option. I had to do the same, remux TS file back to an M2TS using tsMuxeR.

I have a few M2TS BD rips with VC-1 instead of H.264 video and they won't open at all with TVSuite4. I simply get error:
"No PIDs specified when trying to open a transport stream"
So what do you folks do to import those into VRD?
We don't support VC-1 as a source codec, only an output codec.

We don't support VC-1 as a source codec, only an output codec. OK thanks Dan. Probably not coincidently I see that VC-1 encodings generated from VRD TVS4 are TiVo series 3 natively compatible, specifically because audio is 2-channel WMA 9.2 with constant bit rate which TiVo is very picky about.

Actually it is a coincidence. We've never tested VC-1 output on a TiVo internally. I'm glad to hear it works though. :)

Actually, personally I can't wait for update which will allow mp4 container with AC3 audio though as that will be a much more useful multi-channel audio native format for series 3 TiVos.

Out of curiosity, could VC-1 source support be incorporated into the program or is it an entirely impractical and/or implausible proposition. I ask as one who is perfectly happy to purchase and use the software but who has no idea of the technicalities of how it does its stuff.
I, like a few others, have legit Blu-ray's that are VC-1 encodes and would prefer to use VRD for an Edit workflow.
And while I'm here, does VRD cope with HD-DVD .EVO files as a source at all?
Cheers.
Before answering all these additional questions, it would be appreciated if the OP (oh, that's me) received an answer to the original question.
Cheers.

Ditto.
Please, people, don't hijack this thread anymore.

It's already been coded. I'm not sure if it'll make it into the next release or not, but if not then it'll be in the following release. So to answer your question.. very soon. :)

No plans right now for importing VC-1 source material but we can revisit it once for our next major release.
Don't remember about HD-DVD.EVO. We briefly considered what it would take to support that format a year or two ago, but then dropped all work the day after the announcement that it would no longer be supported. Anyone want to buy my XBox360 HD-DVD drive? :)
