I haven't bought VRD *yet* I still have/had 5 days on my trial.

Was running: VideoReDoPlus-2-1-2-417a
..ts file (1080p) made it crash

I read the forum and decided to go for the beta: VideoReDoPlus-2-1-2-423
Simply installed 423 on top.
This is what's logged as it crashed:
Faulting application videoredo.exe, version 2.1.2.423, faulting module videoredo.exe, version 2.1.2.423, fault address 0x000814c4.

(I was hoping to either join 2 parts and/or get get mpg2's)

Do I still need to enter "beta-on" as I keep on trying? (It won't let me in that case: "Key cannot be registered".)

Do you have a trial key installed?

What is the source of your TS file?

Could you Trim and Copy a 20-30MB segment and upload it to our FTP? Please create a unique folder name and place the file in it. Also send us an email at Support@VideoReDo.com when you have.
ftp://upload:upload@videoredo.net/

To Trim and Copy. Click on the menu: Tools>Trim and Copy Source File.

> Do you have a trial key installed?

I hope so, but I can't see it in the (Evaluation) GUI. I upgraded to the beta from the trial, the original trial on install req me to enter a key rec via email. The days are being counted down (4 days left) Wait! The (main) GUI says "Registered to: Trial Key". That should be right?

> What is the source of your TS file?

It's a firewire cable HDTV recording.

I confirmed V423 crashes with your material. A newer version I have been testing does address the issue and loads the file. We'll see about getting you a fix.

Beta Build 426 which addresses this issue has been posted. Please note, we believe the 1080i/p issue has been with us for a long time, at least since 417, and probably earlier (I didn't really research how far back it went).

Because its a buffer overflow problem, it could manifest itself quite differently depending upon the specific file loaded, and which options you may have set including things like thumbnail sizes, etc.

Great! You guys are amazing! It is also refreshing to see the candor with which Dan and Pat discuss problems and solutions, and some of the issues/hurdles they face.

Thanks too, you guys, for that!

Indeed. :D

It seems to work perfectly with build426
This may be the wrong place to ask, (feel free to lock the thread in that case)

I can't join two tp files? It's a 2 step process: first make mpg2 (program streams?) and afterwards "join" ?

Edit:
sorry I was simply confused - a bit re the list, load the file then add it to the "join list", repeat. Great stuff!

I'm having the same exact problem now, also ...

I have a movie split into 80 100mb sections, loaded with the automatic vlst feature ... pretty much any navigation results in a VRD crash.

It's 1080i/p material, firewire capped, also.

Turning thumbnails on or off doesn't seem to make a difference.

Also tried it with and without auto concatenate (ie: loading just the 1st file).

Reproducable with the following steps :

Load file, scan to cut-in point (say, frame 19), then right click to search to end of file, bammo!

Sample in question is uploading to the ftp (see "the.addams.family.0001.ts" in my dir).

I've narrowed my issue down even further : it happens whenever you right-click, period.

Manual scanning through the file, using the timecode manual entry, using the navigation buttons (or related keyboard shortcuts), etc doesn't cause a crash.

but as soon as you right-click, bammo.

Only happens on 1080i material though.

Thanks. Its not file specific, it will happen with any file. Its related to adding strings to the right-click context menu. We've been moving a lot of the program's strings out of the code into external files in preperation for the language translations.

Will have a new build posted later today. In the meantime, stay away from that right mouse button on the main screen.

BTW, did the crashes you were having in the last release disappear?

Spoke too soon. Was adding files to a joiner project tonight, VRD locked up on me several times attemping to add items. Had to resort to the usual taskbar process kill to get it to clear.

the VRD window went white, and it was gone.

Litz, I don't think this is the 1080i issue (but you never know). We continue to search for this one.

You know, the killer thing is- I restart VRD, and the same exact file and/or project will open and close perfectly fine.
