Hello,

It looks like you have an active support forum. This is what my issue is:

1) I own a GoVideo Networked DVD Player - DVD player with built in network connection for playing streamed video. It requires well synced video/audio or else the stream will not play.

2) I create a video *.mpg file (MPEG2 with MP3 audio) via capture card. Or I extract video *.svo from a DVD, and change the file name to *.mpg . The resulting streams ARE NEVER synced up correctly.

3) I have been successful in using TMPGenc Express 3.0 with AC3 plugin. Takes about 10 minutes to sync up a file (or longer, but less than 30 minutes typically). I am not fond of tmpgenc.

Question:

1) Will your application do the same thing? Will it sync up a complete file in under 10 minutes? If not how long will it take to sync a typical 2 hour movie?

2) I am using the trial version and I tried to re-mux a *.mpg file but your application displayed some non-sense timer showing I had 8 million minutes (or something wierd).

What other information do you need about my system so we can get this to work?

I will be mentioning your application in the GoVideo support forums as a MUST HAVE tool. From all the discussion it looks like your application will work. This tool is pretty significant because more persons will have the MediaMVP, GoVideo, Gateway Networked DVD players. (There are at least five to ten different models out there now). And you CAN'T PLAY un-synced video streams!! Archiving you complete DVD collection to hard drive is the only way to go, just like everyone did with MP3 songs.

Thanks in advance for being on the cutting edge of this technology!!

1) Will your application do the same thing? Will it sync up a complete file in under 10 minutes? If not how long will it take to sync a typical 2 hour movie? If the original MPEG file plays in sync, but is out of sync when authored, then we are 99 times out of a 100 able to resync it automatically. If its out of sync originally, then you'll have to use our manual resync option.

2) I am using the trial version and I tried to re-mux a *.mpg file but your application displayed some non-sense timer showing I had 8 million minutes (or something wierd). Which version of VideoReDo are you using. I would suggest you (a) download our latest beta build #250 from, ftp://videoredo:videoredo@ftp.drdsystems.com/Betas/, and (b) Run the Tools>QuickStream fix option on your file. This alone might fix the sync, and will definately address the odd time display.

Fixed!! Yes!!!!!

I was using the wrong AC3 stream in my original DVD ripper. Once I selected the correct stream it all worked.

This has not been easy. Setting up a video on demand system in my home has taken about a month or more of "hobby" time. There are so many ways for this to go wrong.

Okay I spoke too soon. It looks like the fast stream resynchronize in VideoRedo only works on *.SVO files that have a single AC3 audio stream. If you have multiple AC3 audio streams embedded, the resync might pick the wrong stream to sync up to.

So everyone is required to use DVDshrink to create this special *.SVO file.

Is it possible to have better documentation about this?? Maybe I missed it when I did not read the documentation, or maybe the author did not intend for this to happen?

VideoReDo currently only operates on a single audio stream at a time. In the case of AC3 it "latches" on to the first stream it finds in the file. You are correct that DVDShrink, as well as other programs, can be used to select the desired stream.

There have been requests to add support for multiple streams to VideoReDo and it is certainly on the list to do.
