View Full Version : Video Ring error cutting from Mpeg2

I am able to work with small files (less than 10 seconds). But, when I try to work with a file that is 15 minutes, I get a "Mpeg Stream Error: Video Ring Buffer Overflow" during "Save As..."
I am working with a single file encoded with MpegXs from EditStudio, NTSC 480X480. It doesn't matter if I am cutting or trimming. I have tried this with two different files (same project, different encoder settings).
Any ideas?
Eric
I'm sorry you're having this problem. Can you do the following:
1) Clear your log file. (VideoReDo.log).
2) Goto Tools>Options>Advanced Stream and check the "Debug..." box.
3) Re-create the Video Ring Buffer problem.
4) Email me the log file (support@videoredo.com).
5) Also include a copy of the Tools>Show program info screen with the email.
Thanks. I'm sure we will be able to clear this up very quickly.

Dan,
MPEGxs is really mainconcept's mpeg2 encoder packaged for Editstudio.
This might help t/s this problem.

Dan,
Some documentation on various multiplexing options within
MPEGxs,
http://www.mainconcept.com/mpeg_encoder.shtml
Look towards the bottom of the page. To assist in T/S this problem.
Dan - I have experienced this too on my own authored mpeg2 PS (using mpegxs) and certain commercial VOBs created using DVDdecrypter in IFO mode. I would like to learn more about the internal 'clocks' using in a program stream PTS DTS etc. . Are there any WEB documents that describes this design?
thanks
There's lots and lots of stuff on the net about MPEG2. So much that it takes time to sort through and figure out what you want. I suggest people just getting started look at www.mpeg.org. Lots of links there to good overviews, if I recall. The real ISO MPEG docs cost money (not much <$100), but you can find them free if you look really hard. Search for ISO 13818.
The DVD format (IFO) is different and there's very little available for free. The original docs cost around $10K if my memory is correct. The best source I've found for them is www.mpucoder.com. They require a small Paypal donation and for that you get some tables of what's in an IFO file.
A number of people have asked about MPEG overviews. When I come across them in the future will post the links on this board and would ask that others do that same as well. However, please no links to copyrighted material. :)
