View Full Version : All .TIVOs listed as TRANSFERRING even though they have finished

I recently upgraded to VAP 0.73 (from a 2007 version) and moved to the latest VideoReDo TVSuite. Now all the .TIVO files in my "My Tivo Recordings" directory are listed as "TRANSFERRING" even though they are transferred already according to TIVO Desktop 2.8.
Any idea what the problem is?

Try blocking processing on all files (hope it's not too many) and then start processing.
If that doesn't work, please give a detailed description of the scenario leading up to this point. For example, did you already have the TiVo files transfered from long ago, or when did they transfer? Were all the transfers done using Desktop 2.8? You say you were using a 2007 version but VAP did not exist then. I assume you're talking about its predecessor TVAP, which worked only on .TiVo files, correct? Also what version of Windows are you using? I believe the latest version of Desktop is 2.8.2 and I think it doesn't show up just by checking for updates in Desktop. You have to manually download it from TiVo.

I had the same issue, all Tivo files showing as Transfered. In reading through the VAP change log, change April 8th 2011:
Enhanced: There is a new checkbox, "Stop monitoring if theTVDB is down", located on the
"Other" tab of Advanced Configuration, which will default to checked the first time you startup
this version and will be tracked in the XML file thereafter. If this is checked, files that are
detected when theTVDB is down will remain in the 'TRANSFERRING" status, until the
connection is restored (and VAP processing is active). Otherwise, detected files will be
processed with whatever metadata can be obtained without using theTVDB. (In any case, VAP
retries the connection at 5 minute intervals, if its processing is active and a file remains in the
TRANSFERRING status.)
I let VAP sit with the files in the "Transferring" state for a few hours, and the status never changed. I went into the Other tab of the Advanced Configurations and unchecked the "Stop monitoring if the TVDB is down". As soon as I unchecked this box VAP started processing my files.

Thanks much, eschone. I hope it helped dammad, although he/she hasn't been on the forum since his/her original post in this thread.
The intended behavior was that VAP would recheck connectivity to theTVDB.com every five minutes (when processing is active) and there should be log messages reporting on those checks. Do you see such messages? I didn't want to put up a blocking message when connectivity is lost because that would stop all processing during unattended operation if connectivity was lost just for a short time.
Perhaps it would be better to default the checkbox to unchecked. I'm curious, are you unable to ever reach theTVDB.com or was it down for a long time recently?
