Files not worked

I finally seem to have my Ceton InfiniTV 4 working properly and I teamed it up with VRD and VAP to finish off the files so I can watch them on my TV with my Mede8er 500x media box. The results are marvelous when it works. But out of the usual 8 or 9 shows I record a night I'm left with 3 or 4 that don't get processed. I'm still not good at reading the logs so could you tell me why last night I was left with these 4 unprocessed? Am I trying to process too many files at a time as I sometimes am recording 4 programs at a time?

VAP should be able to handle whatever files you give it.

Are there .mpg or .wtv files named per your four unprocessed files in:
1. The monitor folder?
2. The Temp(QSF) folder?
Are there .vprj files with those four names in:
1. The Temp(QSF) folder?
2. The Output Folder?

How did you stop VAP (or did you?) before declaring there were 4 unprocessed files? Was VAP no longer processing anything at that point? (I'm wondering if you just need to wait longer for all the processing to complete.)

In the C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Roaming\VAP\VideoFileManager. xml file, please look for <VideoFileData> sections corresponding to at least one of the unprocessed input file names. If you find one, please copy that section out and post it here.

This might be a sequencing bug associated with high file throughputs using ComSkip and AutoCuts. One way to diagnose that would be to use VRD's Ad Detective instead of ComSkip (uncheck Use Comskip) and see if the problems go away. (If I know this is the problem, I can focus on fixing it.) Another way to check this, if you still have a file that has failed to process once on hand, is to get VAP to process it (again) all by itself (using ComSkip) with no competing input files waiting to be processed.

Your unprocessed cases are completing the QSF process and then nothing happens. This is expected behavior if the default settings configure doing just QSF at the moment when the files were first detected in the monitor folder. However if VAP thought these files were done processing, I assume it should have deleted them since you apparently have it configured to delete completed inputs, correct? There are no log messages that it deleted them.

Thank you for looking that over. I manually completed the 4 unprocessed files and so I don't think the .xml file will tell you anything at this point. Tell you what, I'll record my shows as normal tonight and see what happens and I'll get you the info that you need if it fails (as it probably will). I will use AdDetective instead of Comskip as you suggested. If it doesn't fail then I'll give Comskip a try again the next night. I did use AdDetective a few days ago initially but it was giving me some unprocessed files and was leaving in some commercials. I've been very lucky with Comskip not leaving in any commercials.

I just now duplicated the problem. As I expected it's a bug associated with processing multiple QSF/ComSkip processed files. I'm looking at it now. No need to collect more diagnostic info for now at least.

Definite bug. Thanks for catching it. Fixed in Ver. 0.79 release, just posted.

Actually the files that didn't finish processing were in QSF status and where incorrectly set to blocked status. If you unchecked blocked the file would finish processing.

Just for the record (and as you figured out), it wasn't the Comskip. I had my usual 3 files unprocessed at the end of the night last night and they stayed that way all day long while I was at work. I had to manually process them when I got home.

So far, so good. I finished the night without any unprocessed videos. Unfortunately it was a light night and I didn't have too many shows recording (and thus, processing) at the same time. I'll let you know the results after I have a heavy duty night. If they come through then I'll be very happy. Again, thank you so much.

I'm going to declare the bug fix a success as far as I'm concerned. I did a lot of test recording today while I was at work and everything processed. That included recording 6 shows in an hour (2 hour long shows and 4 half hour shows) and then all of them basically wanting to be processed at the same time. It worked perfectly. I'm very happy. You did a great job with VAP.
