i bought this program to have a easy way to edit out commericals from my dvr-ms files (and a nice graphical version which videoredo does really well).

But when I put the file back in my recorded tv directory Its not showing any of the guide info about when it was recorded, channel number etc.

And I used dvrmstools before this to edit the shows but it doesnt have any options as far letting you pick and choose which parts are edited but it does the same thing when i select the "remove commercials" but it does what it should do when you use the "remove commercials, output dvrms & comm xml". I assume the comm xml is whats causing the file not to appear right back in media center.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about comm xml, but if you're saving the file back into your recorded TV folders and the save format is DVR-MS it should appear show the guide info.

Sometimes it takes a while for the guide info to be picked up.

I have a similar problem, I cut the commercials out of a DVR-MS file, saved it to a new name (but DVR-MS) and MCE is NOT recognizing it.

Can you help?

Did you try restarting MCE?

**Edit**

Never mind, found the answer over at the greenbutton...this does work (although it is annoying that it doesn't pick this up the first time :-) ).

"Close Media Center
rename file(s)
Start Media Center
Wait about a minute for media center to refresh
After I see the screen reload I hit Sort by Title, then Sort by Date. And voila it is there.
Clap hands with glee"

I'm having the same issue and it's quite irritating. I edited several episodes of Star Trek last night, all were saved to the Recordings directory. All I get in the guide is "star trek" for everything...no episode title/description, no recording date, incorrect duration...nothing.

The meta data is in the file, I can hover over it with the mouse and it all pops up, but MCE will not pick it up. It has been over 12 hours since I edited these files, I have stop/started MCE multiple times and rebooted twice, no change. I even tried shutting down MCE, edit, then restart...no luck. How do I force MCE to see the meta data?
