edge cropping

I would like to see the ability to crop edges. I record shows using SageTV and there is usually some black space along one of the edges. Also, more and more shows are in a 16x9 format and have letterboxing on the top and bottom that I would like to remove as well.

There have been a lot of requests for these features, and they are under consideration. The problem is that so far we haven't been able to figure out a way to do this without recording.

I'd also like to see this feature...
A lot of what goes to air in Australia is letterboxed on the left and right.
If I want to remove this, I have to crop the picture in TMPGenc DVD. (87 pixels left and right is the magic number if i remember correctly)...

If you mean pillarboxed (black areas on left and right), some DVD authoring programs can provide pan and scan capabilities to handle it automatically. Check out some of the discussions on this message board from earlier this year. The results were inconclusive. Some people were able to get it working and others weren't.
