struggling beginner

i am trying to get rid of some adverts and have been using the videoredo guide to remove commercials but when i try and drag the upper slider (1) it keeps jumping back tothe begiining and will not let me pick up the adverts.
any idea what i am doing wrong.

Try processing the file through QuickStream Fix first, then load the fixed file for editing.

What is the source of your video files? What capture device do you use?

What version of VideoReDo are you using? Help>About

my videos are vob files taken off the television and recorded on my dvd recorder.
i downloaded videoredo plus and then bought it

Since you are using a DVD recorder, you might be interested in this:

Here is a link to information about a program that can help automate the process of copying your files from the DVD to your hard drive and use VideoReDo to QuickStream Fix them for editing.

Start the program and click the "Open DVD" button and navigate to the source folder. The program will only display the 1st VOB containing video and not list the menu VOBs.

The "Copy + QSF" button will copy your file(s) to the hard drive and automatically combine and QuickStream Fix them

After the process is completed, you can click the "Play QSF MPG" button which will launch VideoReDo and open the file for editing.
