If you have edited a mpeg2 file and then save it, does VRD run QFS or its equivalent, or do we need to run that separately?

Same for .vobs or elementary streams?

TIA,

There's probably an official answer around here some place ,but . . .
if VRD can read your file and the timing is passable for you to edit, then it'll clean the file upon writing (regardless of output format), just as if you used QSF stand alone.
If the file is so bad VRD cannot read it (timing errors, etc) then you run QSF stand alone, and then edit.

Writing VOBs is only for input to a specific authoring program, and should not be confused with a ready-to-burn DVD image.
VRD won't read mpa/mpv files but it'll write them, and they'll be just as well cleaned up as writing mpg or anything else.

With your vast knowledge, I'll quite happpily settle for the 'unofficial' answer. :D ;)

Thanks for the information. Was wondering if I needed to run my edited files back through QFS to be on the safe side for when I finally get around to authoring them in DVDAuthor (or Ulead DMF4 -- Still haven't decided on a definite workflow [sigh]).

Thanks,

That very question about QSF has been pretty heavily discussed by the developers.
I once found a boundary case where the above wasn't true, and we really got into it. :)
They discovered I had an unusual combination of settings.
The next beta release (a week?) took care of what I broke.

Needless to say, I hold them in pretty high esteem.
