What is the recognized manner to burn a DVD that will play on standard DVD recorders after recording on MCE and then editing with Video ReDo Plus?
Every attempt I've made always gives me a note (on the TV) that I have an unrecognizable format.

With the video loaded into VideoReDo, press Ctrl-L, copy to clipboard, then paste that info here with your next post.
What is the source of your video material?

Most modern DVD players ( built inthe last 4 years) will play video in various formats.
The official format for north America is 720x480.
1). You could have an old and cranky DVD player.
2). You could have a very non-standard format.
3). You may have not authored your source video properly into a DVD.
- what authoring software did you use on the video before burning it to a disc?

Here's the info from the clipboard.

The source of the video is a copy of the "edited MCE captured movie" from a standard commercial station. The DL DVD was then finalized with Roxio EMC 9.

Did you author a DVD, creating menus, etc. or did you simply burn the file to a DVD?

PhD

I simply burned the edited file to a DVD using the MCE methodology.
i.e. 1. recorded the movie onto MCE; 2. edited out the commercials;3. then burned the DVD using MCE protocol.

Thanks

Vince

Check the disc to make sure it is making a compliant DVD for use in a standalone DVD player. It should contain a VIDEO_TS folder which has VOB, IFO and BUP files in it.

Thanks Pat:

I guess I don'y know as much as I should, but other the the Ctrl L info I obtained yesterday (see below)

I'm not sure I know how to get that info. A DOS search doesn't show anything other than the video titles.
Please tell me how to check that

As Pat said, check the disc--load it into your PC's DVD drive and look at the files. There should be at least a VIDEO_TS directory/folder with VOBs & IFOs in it.

There are only 2 files, the video files as mpegs

You will need to author a DVD for use in standalone DVD players. Here are links to additional information besides what's available on the forum.

There are only 2 files, the video files as mpegsThe simplest way that I know of to get to a proper DVD formatted set of files (a VIDEO_TS folder) from a "compliant" .mpg file (and yours looks to be so at 720x480 and DVD-5 in size) is:

1. Open with VRD and Save As "Elementary Streams"
2. Run MuxMan (freeware, now 0.15Q) and import these streams
3. Output (makes VIDEO_TS) and burn to DVD

This makes a "first play" DVD (no menus, great for a single recorded program). Not in any of the help files here that I could find but this works great, provided (again) that your mpg file has a DVD-compliant resolution of 720x480 or 352x480 and will fit on a single DVD.
