It might help the VideoReDo team if you provide precise information about how exactly you are getting recordings from the Tivo to the PC (including tool versions etc), as well as some information about the file you are trying to save, eg does it even open in VRD?, if so, please post the Ctrl-L information on the file.

What recording settings are you using on your Tivo (and what Tivo version is it)?

What version of VideoReDo are you using?

Is it possible to Quickstream Fix the file, or does that have the same problem? Can you open the file in any other applicable player?

Have you previously been able to edit and save similar files off your Tivo?

Since there are Tivo files, the first diagnostic is to open and play them in the Windows Media Player. Let us know if that works.

I was half way through editing a TIVO file when I got this message. When I re-edited the same file it happened about a quarter way in. Since I had previously edited this portion of the file successfully, and since I had gotten this maeeage before when editing a file on a network drive, and since I have been having performance problems with my system, I began thinking the message might have something to do with how busy my system was. So I stopped TIVO server and was able to edit the file successfully. It appears VideoRedo may report a timeout during a read as a file data error. Hope this helps.

When reading TIVO files we use the Tivo reader which doesn't provide much in the error handling. We can look, in the future, if its worth doing a retry but so far we've found that any error from the Tivo reader leaves the Tivo code in an unstable state.
