Hello,

I am evaluating videoredo. I have a bunch of .tivo files that have been converted to mpeg2 files using Directshow Dump.

I have been looking for an application to cut the commercials, and I was recommended to give videoredo a try.

So far, it has been good, but I noticed that in some long movies, the audio is slightly ahead the video (From Windows Media Player). I tried to change the Editing Accuracy to 'GOP Accurate' and I think it helps, but I am not entirely sure.

Does anyone have similar scenario (.tivo->directshow dump->.mpeg2->videoredo) and can share if the audio is out of sync?

The edited video plays fine within Videoredo, but I think it is slightly ahead from WMP.

Thanks!

Hi,

If you look at the link I started called "Loss of synch" you can see the conclusions I reached:

1) I don't believe that VideoRedo "unsynchs" audio and video

2) Applications and appliances have differing performance in terms of synching audio and video. It looks like the pure time delay for processing each of audio and video can vary, meaning there can be a fixed delta for the entire file playback.

3) Some hardware appliances are reliably perfect, but NOT the DSE cheap DVD player at $59 or thereabouts.

4) The free Pocket PC and Windows media player application TCPMP has an adjustable delay (+/-) between video and audio meaning that you can overcome almost any problem in software-based devices.

Does that help?

Cheers.
