This program rocks!

I have SageTV and a Hauppauge pvr-350 PCI card and about 100+ GB of files that I need desperately to get off my hard drive-preferably in the form of DVD's playable in a standalone player.

Sooooo I tried Ulead Movie Factory 2, Movie Factory 3 and TMPGenc DVD Author and no single one of these programs could open all of my MPG files. Even TMPGenc had problems with just opening about 1/2 of my files, and when it did open them, and I recoded the files that *should* have been DVD compliant in the first place (according to Sage TV settings), the audio was out of sync.

Then along comes VideoReDo and it will open everything, allow me to trim and cut commercials and save the resulting file very rapidly, and TMPGenc opens all of VideoReDo's output and successfully creates IFO and VOB files ready to be burned to DVD, which then play perfectly in my very finicky stand alone DVD player.

So apparently this prog can do things that not a lot of the software out there can do.

I am only on day 2 of my trial but I've already cleared about 16 gb off my drive . . .

Plus I also like the customizability of the buttons and arrow-key controls for navigation.

One request, should be easy--add keyboard controls for mark-in, mark-out and cut/inverse cut commands--with those I could work thru my inventory in minutes.

I'm not saying its easy, it isn't. What it takes is a strong commitment to support your users.

You can find these keyboard shortcuts either from the help menu or the simply click on the edit menu and you'll see the shortcuts next to each menu item. I've heard that some users have programmed their home theatre remotes to fully control VideoReDo.

ummm. . . I was just testing you. . .

well the bright side is now it should be clear how easy the thing is to use--i didn't need to read the help file. . .

Someday soon, after we get a ton users on this board, I'll post a poll asking how many users have ever used the help file. We can take bets, but I'm going to take something right near the bottom :)

All my work for naught! For those who don't know, Peter's been one of the VideoReDo pre-release beta testers and did most of the proof reading of the help files and web site. So give him a break and read the help file.

It was a well-documented piece of literature. Occasionally, I'll go to the help file and brush up on things. It also helps one to better understand how the program works. Nice job!
