View Full Version : Vista vs. XP (files are larger?)

When running Windows XP, VRD nicely turned all my 18 min., edited recorded tv shows (from Media Center) into 800MB MPG files, and I could download 5 of them on a 4.7G DVD. After installing Vista, my 18 min. MPG shows now "weigh" approx. 1.5G (I'm guessing the original recorded DVR-MS version of the shows, before I edited them, were larger to begin with, after Vista, as well. I can't remember.)

As for movies, I could edit one down to 1hr. & 36min. to fit on a 4.7G DVD. Now after installing Vista, I won't be able to get even that much on a disc.

Can anybody tell me why? And, more importantly, how to correct the problem. I could go back to XP, but there must be a less dramatic solution. Help!

Thanks,
Kitt

Higher data rate and/or higher resolution?
I assume you mean the bigger files were recorded on Vista..?

Can you load one of the old files into VRD, press Ctrl-L, and paste that info ?
Then, do the same for one of the files recorded under Vista, and we'll compare.
