Hello,
I edited a mpeg file in VRD and saved it as elementary streams. I wanted to load this file into Muxman as part of the DVD authoring process. The VRD output included three files:
I_Robot.mpv
I_Robot.mpa
I_Robot chapters.txt
Muxman does not recognize these files. I selected open file and clicked on I_Robot.mpv Muxman does not add the file. What do I do now?
Thanks,
Rick

When I heard about MuxMan (some time last year) I gave it a quick test-run.
Seemed to get the job done, just fine.
1). is this your first test with MuxMan?
- have you done other projects with it?
2). is the file resolution compatible with DVD authoring?
- I don't recall how it handles non-standard file formats.
3). there is always the PAL vs NTSC question...
I'm not a regular user, so that's about the extent of what I can suggest you look at.
Perhaps some other member will have more.
After you reply to the above questions, maybe more solutions will become apparent.
Oh, and the first five links Google coughed up (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=muxman&btnG=Google+Search) when I searched on Muxman , looked useful, too.

Hello Anole,
I used the trial version of VRD this winter and successfully burned 8 DVD's. I finally got around to purchasing VRD yesterday and was to clear off some files from my HD.
These video files are captures from Wintv2000 (Long play, 720x480 format). I edited one file and successfully tested the edited file in two different players (PowerDVD and Real player). The formatting should be okay.
Since the original download of VRD, I have added the WinTV software to my system, updated the drivers for my ATI video card, and updated the Catalyst suite. When I go the video files folder, it lists the mpv and mpa files as Mpegs. File extensions are correct, not sure why Windows lists them as Mpegs.
Thanks for the links. I had already been to three of those first five links and did not find an answer.
Thanks Anole! You are a great asset to the forum!
Best,
Rick

This may be a little off base, but why did you save as elementary streams if you were going to remux them again? There are some authoring programs that want elementary streams as inputs, but then you wouldn't be using MuxMan to create an mpeg. Were you doing some post processing on the audio portion? Just curious.
I use VRD to adjust audio levels, select audio tracks, and correct A/V sync; and I've used ImagoMPEG-Muxer.exe to add a second audio track to files (until I found that I could just drag and drop the second audio file in DVDStyler).

I was attempting to use Muxman to generate the IFO files and then burn with Nero (no transconding required if you have IFO files). Is there an easier way? All I want to do is just a burn a DVD with minimum fuss and effort.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick I have never had a problem w/MuxMan so don't know what to say to you--are you using the latest (0.15Q I think)? When you clicked on the "Video: ..." button to open your .mpv, you didn't get an error message of any kind?
If you re-load the .mpv file into VRD, what does VRD say about it? (CTRL-L "Show info")

Have very little experience with Muxman. But for what you appear to be doing, I use DVDAuthorGUI.
First edit the video in VRD and save as VOB (MPG with NAV packs(?))
Load into DVDAuthorGUI. Cut & Paste the Chapter text into Chapters window in DVDAuthorGUI. And author. Quick & Simple.
I use Nero 6 to burn the resultant DVD folder.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi Laser! I was hoping you would chime in! :)
Yes, I have the latest version (0.15Q). Hmmm, my computer does not display *any* buttons for either 0.15p or 0.15q.... I was attempting to load a file by clicking on file then load project. I recall Muxman being **very** easy use in the past. The lack of buttons explains the problem, must be a conflict of some sort. I have redownloaded Muxman again, still no buttons on the very simple interface...
If I try to load the mpv file into VRD, it gives me the following error: "editing of elementary streams is not yet supported".
Thanks for your assistance!
All the best,
Rick

Oops, but... sorry Rick--the "Open" button is that little ... button-thingie at the right-end after it sez "Video" on the main screen!
You'll remember now, buddy!!!

Lol! Really Laser, there are no buttons on my P and Q Muxman interfaces. I've clicked everywhere around and in the video box... See the attached file, no buttons...
May go to the office later and check out the Muxman interface on a different computer. Gotta wait till my NFL team completes their drafting today. :D
Thanks Buddy!

Good grief something is rotten there, no doubt about it! Wonder why your window is incomplete? Here's what it should look like, w/the buttons on the far right.
Sorry if my posts questioned your ability to focus! ;)

Laser, thanks for attaching the image! Very strange that the right hand buttons are cropped in my window... (I had cropped the lower half to ensure a small image size, only the RH buttons are missing). Any thoughts on how to proceed?
Hmmm, the easiest approach is to download at work (unzip and test) and then e-mail home. I'll try that and let you know if it solves the program.
Best,
Rick

A problem like this crops up in the scheduler for the Hauppauge tuner cards if you select something other than the default (small) fonts in your desktop properties. Larger fonts and the window gets cut off no matter what resolution your desktop is running at.
Just a thought.

Hat tip to Zaphod! Thanks! That was the issue. I had changed the display DPI setting from 96 to 120 a few weeks ago. Did not impact any other software until I opened Muxman yesterday. I switched the DPI setting back to 96 and Muxman displays correctly in the window. Thanks again! :)
All the best!

(re-edited to make it clearer)
I had a little 30 minute show, and edited it up with VideoReDo for a test.
At the end, I saved the output as .mpa/mpv files.
Then, I dug out my old copy of Muxman, and tried it on the show I'd just edited.
Muxman rejected my .mpv file, as invalid.
Then, I found a folder where I'd run MuxMan tests last August.
There were three short pair of .mpa/mpv files, one for each 5 minute test video.
I tried making one after another of those three source files into DVDs.
Muxman loaded each .mpv, and then the .mpa, and happily put out the required files.
The difference?
The old test files were formatted as 720x480, not the usual resolution I normally operate in (544x480).
Apparently, I'd re-encoded my test files -up- to DVD standards before, to test MuxMan.
2). is the file resolution compatible with DVD authoring?
- I don't recall how it handles non-standard file formats.
