firstly, thanks a lot dan and pat. i incorporated all your suggestions on the previous post and had great results. Videoredo is good for the economy. i was so excited by the results that i ran out and bought a sony drx-530UL dvd burner!

however, though with the new version i now get sound when playing my mpeg2 in videoredo, after editing by making selections and cuts and then saving video as, every single time the newly created mpeg has serious audio problems -- it crackles real bad.

interestingly, if i make only one selection (as only one is allowed in this methodology) with Tools->Trim and Copy source file and select from Selection, the output file has perfect audio (but is a little off by a few seconds in which part of the video is captured, which can easily be fixed by me by simply allowing for this in my selection.)

hence, is there something that i am missing in my steps to edit? why does the audio get messed up when make selections and edits and then save as, whereas if trim and copy audio works? thanks.

d/l 207 and tried to cut the mpeg. opened the new vrd edited mpeg and it played (power dvd) the 1st frame then, though powerdvd kept going forward, no more video/sound. tried navigating forward got no video but awful static instead of audio. tried stopping and playing again. same results. didnt work. let me know what i can do on my side to help resolve. thanks dan.

Jay,

Try this:

1) What is the source of this program, which capture card are you using?
2) Open the file, what does Tool>Show Program Info display.
3) Without making any cuts, SaveAs the entire file to a new name. Did VideoReDo say any frames were dropped?
4) If you have problems playing this new file, trim off 10 MB and upload to the FTP site: ftp://videoredo:videoredo@ftp.drdsystems.com/

didnt work. saved the file as, tried opening it w/powerdvd and same result. even VRD played it choppy with audio cutting in and out. ill upload the file to you now, but ive tried it with several other mpeg files saved by sagetv with the same results.

wonder why it works when trim cut but not save as?

wonder why it works when trim cut but not save as?The trim cut is does not change the MPEG stream at all. It simply positions to the MByte you specify, looks for a packet start, and then starts writing. The streams out of trim are not MPEG compliant. VRD streams are totally MPEG2 compliant. VRD pulls everything apart and puts it back together in an orderly fashion. Somewhere in this massaging of the program stream, VRD is messing up.

I see you file on the FTP site now. I'll download it an start working on it. Hopefully will have something tomorrow for you.

any luck messing with the file i uploaded to youI thought this would be a piece of cake fix. I've spent hours on it, and finally found the problem. Hope to have a fix out tonight or first thing in the morning. Thanks for being so patient. Jay, why don't you email me directly (support@videoredo.com) so I can send you an email when there's a version to test.

Jay, Version 210 in the FTP beta folder should fix your problem. Let me know how it goes.
