I just tried to use VideoReDo with TiVo content. VRD had no complaints loading and marking-up the MPG file produced by TyTool. Then I "Saved as" elementary streams, getting a mpa and mpv file. So far, so good.

Then I tried to burn a DVD using DVD Lab Pro (version 1.00, build 041014). It gave me a warning that the frame size is 480x480, but more oddly it shows "0-GOP" for the Time of the MPV file. Is that indicitive of a problem?

When I told it to compile the DVD, it gave a "serious error" and suggested re-coding the streams.

Its MPEG parser window reports an Average Bitrate of 4179, and Maximum of 10380.

I asked about using VRD with Tivo, and the only reply indicated that no special options were used and the result was fed to DVD Lab.

We use DVDLab here with Tivo streams (not PRO). I don't know what the 0-GOP indicates, never saw that msg. But, with DVDLab you need to use the alternative muxer since the GOP size from Tivo is so large. One could also use the GOP reducer in VideoReDo but that adds a lot of time to the editing process.

If you want to upload a section of your MPV/MPA for us to look at, please do so.

OK, I put the pair of elementary streams in your FTP area, in an eponymous subdirectory.

More data:

I made a couple 1-minute files from the same source material and DVD-Lab Pro took it just fine! The error occurs just before the half way point in the muxing progress bar, so I wonder if there is just one funny record or something in VRD's output?

Is the cleanup&fix logic missing something? Would one of the advanced settings help (there are special settings recomended for various tools)?

I have seen this problem, it only happens with DVDlab Pro. To fix the streams all I did was make the GOB size 18 (NTSC) and turned on the check box to the left of the GOB entry box (am at work and cannot remember the option).

DVDlab Pro was then happy and imported my streams. I think the Pro version does not like the large GOBs that the ty streams have.

I tried shortening the GOPs (I don't remember how short I made it) and it increased the file size by 30%. That's a bit much, so I'd rather not if I don't have to.
