Newbie alert! I'm still learning about the TVS features, so if this has already been covered, I apologize.

Most of the content I record from prime time is 16x9 in a 4x3 frame. I'm recording SVideo from a HD settop box.

So, this feature of cropping the video seems very appealing. But when I do this, the recoding is making the quality of video about half of what it originally was. Original bitrate ~6Mbs and DVD has just ~3Mbps.

Is this a function of the over-compression in the algorithm that I've read about in other threads? Will this be addressed when the algorigthm is updated?

Thanks.

I have tried that after reading it in the beta section, but with no luck. I will try again and report back.

Hi again,

Still seeing the same problem.. I set the "Recode initial quant x 100" to 100 from 400, but I still get the same results.

Is this the thread to which you are referring?
http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/showthread.php?t=5132

I also set the Tools>Options>DVD Settings>Recoding speed to Best (slowest) and the bit rate went up only slightly.

I must be missing an obvious setting, I suspect.

Hi I record exactly same as your.

I use 9.50 Mbps - HQ in Video Options. No loss quality. ( To prevent loss quality ) Then I goto NERO for DVD Burn thing. Perfectly :D

I have not burn to DVD by TV Suite yet but it look very good in folder.

I love this Crop by TV Suite. Successful for me.
