Hi

I have a Topfield TF5800 PVR Most programs that I record, I just watch them then delete them. Occasionaly I will come across a program that I want to keep so Using VideoReDo and TMPGENC DVD Author I burn these programs to DVD.

More often than not I want to convert the file to Divx to play on one of my portable media players (Archo AV420 or Archos 700 TV). Like other people I have struggled with the Divx conversion using various programs including the Divx Converter that comes with the Divx Bundle (very Slow) and AutoGK (Still slow but not as bad).

Recently I came across a program called Total Video Converter which will vitually convert from anything to anything and its fast. I've only used it so far to convert from Transport Stream (TS) to Divx and Program Stream (MPG-2) to Divx but it's the fastest Divx converter that I have come across. Almost real time i.e. 90min movie converts in 90 mins and the quality is good.

Unfortunately its not free but I think it's well worth the $45.00 (£25.00) price tag.

There is a 15 Trial Download available and there is information on the product here
http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/

I Hope that this information is of help to somebody

Kind Regards
GeoffB

P.S. I'm new to the forum but not new to VRD I've been using it for about three years and I think it's absolutely brilliant.

Before you pay for that one, hunt down a copy of Vidomi and give it a try. Speed is going to depend on processor/disk speed but it's much faster than real time here (Intel C2D), is easy to use and does a good job.
