Is there something I can use to unwrap an MKV and get the video/audio?
If it's in multiplexed DivX format, that's fine.
If it's a video and multiple audio streams, that's fine, too
A list of chapter marks would be nice, but that's optional.

Try mplayer.

Get the complete package with player.

If the the player can play it, mplayer can convert it. Contains it's own codecs also.

Have you tried gui4ffmpeg? It's my Swiss Army Knife for odd formats.
I have been able to convert some files that I could not even play.

MKVExtractGUI (http://coreforge.org/projects/mkvextractgui/) tool will do precisely what you're asking for. :)

Thanks, that is what I ran last night.
Wouldn't write to a drive across my LAN to save its life, but did extract the video and audio tracks to the local drive.
That's my 1280x720 with AC3 5.1

Then, it turns out, the DivX Author 1.5 won't build a disc with 720p material.
Unless you want to output it as 720x480, of course.

I'll break this part off the existing thread, because we've really gone way far afield.
Thanks for all the input. :D
