Does VideoReDo retain closed captions and subtitles after editing?
VideoReDo retains closed captions through the editing cycle, but not subtitles. TVsuite will also retain captions if the video is not reencoded during authoring.
Closed captions are embedded as "user data" within the video stream itself. Because VideoReDo does not alter the video stream, closed captions are preserved.
On the other hand, subtitles are contained in a separate stream in your program file. Just as one can have multiple audio streams, (i.e. 2 channel, 5 channel, foreign language, etc.), there can also be one or more subtitle streams as well. The current release of VideoReDo Plus only supports a single video stream and single audio stream.
A future release of VideoReDo will support multiple audio and subtitle streams in addition to the primary video stream.
