in beta 546, this cool feature was added:
[Enhancement] Chapter Marks: New option on Tools>Options>Chapters to not create auto equal spaced chapters if other marks already created.
So, I thought I'd try it today.
I grabbed a movie with TVS, which had no commercials.
Trimmed off the leader.
Trimmed off the trailer.
Ran it through TVS authoring and wrote a Video_TS folder.
(probably should have checked it at this point, but I was in a hurry)
Burned the DVD ... and when I tried to play it, I discovered there were no chapters.
(I'd set them to 8 minutes)
Technically, I had two cuts.
Oh, heck.
Is this the way it was intended?
I'm certainly no worse off.

Not a feature that I've needed but a possible work-around. After marking your cuts, use the Ad-Detective menu to "Clear all scene all marks": or just make your selection without using the "A" key to create an Ad-Detective mark.
Perhaps this is what you're doing, in which case there would seem to be a bug.
I just tried it here and it worked fine.
Do you have "Use equal spacing" checked in Tools>Options>Chapter Marks?
Try importing the DVD title in VideoReDo to see if they appear.

I am using version 313 547, 29 Nov 2007
In the Tools | Chapter Marks menu, I have:
- At Cut Points: check
- At Scene Markers: no
- Use equal Spacing: check
- 8 Minutes
- Only if No Other Chapter Marks: check
- Include First Frame: no
- Automatically Create a Chapter File: check
There was extraneous video before and after the movie, which I cut in standard cut-mode.
...for a total of just two cuts...
I did not apply any scene markers (don't use 'em)
In normal editing, I'd cut out commercials, and use the chapter file to import chapter marks into DVD Labs.
Occasionally, when I make a DVD with just a single movie, I run with TVS to do the Authoring, as in this case.
Normally, I would forget to change the chapter options, and I thought this new feature would save my bacon.
I'm assuming beause I did technically make two cuts, that I'm out of luckl.
It's just that the two cuts would be a common thing to do in a case like this. :)
The Video_TS file is still on this computer, and I used File | Open Title from DVD .
There are no chapter marks showing in my video.
You found a weird one.
If:
you cut the beginning of a file and
At Cut Points: check
- Use equal Spacing: check
- Only if No Other Chapter Marks: check
No chapter marks will appear. You can confirm chapter marks in preview

Oh, this is actually a bug and might be changed?
Great news!
And thanks for suggesting I peek at Preview Mode.
Next time I set up one of these, I'll see what it shows.
For you, we're treating it as a "Bug"
Technically there are cut points.
(Looks like it's fixed.)

Wow, talk about a quick-fix !
Beta 548:
[Fix] Chapter Marks: Equal spaced chapters would not be created if exclusive and cut marks are set and front of file is trimmed.
I'm sure it's all fixed up
So, thanks.
I'll try to give it a run on the same files as before, if I can stay awake long enough tonight. :)

Works like a charm now. Prog trimmed at start and end with no breaks, automatic markers appear, add one extra scene mark they disappear, remove the scene mark and they return. (Just testing the robustness there!)
This situation (programmes with no ads) makes up a large portion of my saves here in BBC land, so this change is very welcome--thanks.
