Advertising by DRD Systems includes the following:

VideoReDo MPEG-2 Editor
Easily Removes TV Commercials Works with any PVR or DVR www.videoredo.com

I'm thinking that the most basic requirement is to be able to transfer files from the PVR/DVR device to a Windows computer. My understanding is that there are lots of these devices which do not provide a means for extracting the files. While I could imagine that it might be correct to say that VideoReDo works with the files recorded by any PVR/DVR this is not quite what the advertising claims.

Is there something about this that I fail to understand properly?

I've been sitting here trying to decide if the above is tongue-in-cheek or not.

I must be tired, as I'm going to bite: In case it isn't, personally I think it is quite reasonable to expect, in general, that a Windows application that works with video files would need the source files to be on the said Windows PC (or a network "drive" from which the Windows PC can read). It is unreasonable to expect, regardless of what has been fit into the 70 available description characters in a Google AdWords advert, that it would need to be clarified that PVRs that have no ability to extract recordings, or which encrypt their recordings, would not be supported. No wonder companies have no resorted to putting things like "Danger: Avoid Death" (http://www.drudge.com/news/101792/best-warning-label-danger-avoid-death) on their products, just in case...
