Sorting in Media Center

Does anybody know what tells Media Center (MC) how to sort the programs in the "Recorded TV" area? For example, some programs will all come under a single grouping with "More" on the right hand side. When you select that item, it lists all the programs that fall under that grouping. In other cases MC just lists all the programs under the main "Recorded TV" area.

All programs are saved in the folder "Recorded TV". I am running Windows XP MCE (I think 2000, not 2005).

I did notice when I cut the commercials from a program that was being grouped, using the same show title with a appending, it is no longer grouping. Is there some flag that is set, etc?

I believe that shows are grouped by WMRV/RequestID. By default, VideoReDo clears this field when saving a DVR-MS file. Unset this parameter on the Tools>Options>MCE page and it will be preserved from the source file.

You can fix the RequestID entry for files already affected using editDVRMSmetadata available from http://blogs.msdn.com/toub/archive/2005/05/12/416874.aspx

Thanks for the reply and the link. I read (tried to read) some of the background material Stephen had at his blog. I am not a programmer, just trying to do some "user" level stuff. I downloaded the .exe that you recommended. Do I just run that? I got the impresseion that this was used in conjunction with some kind of developer program? Again, appreciate the help.
