I was just trying to make a DVD from some video recordings but I can't figure out how to change the GOP length. In the "Output Options" the GOP length is 15 I clicked on the "Change Output Options" button and change the GOP Length from 15 to 18 but it doesn't change when you click "ok". I'm sure I'm just being blind but I can't see how to change it, sorry.
Thanks for your help.
To manually specify a GOP length after you have loaded and edited your video, click on the Create DVD button.
The Create DVD dialog appears. Click on the Change output options button.
Click on the Video Options tab.
Enter the GOP length you desire.

Thanks phd, but thats what I'v been doing (see above post) but it doesn't change the GOP when you click "Ok". The GOP always stays at 15. I'll uninstall and reinstall see if that helps.
edit: uninstalled VideoRedo, Rebooted then reinstalled, rebooted, still can't change the GOP from 15 to 18.

Isn't this a side-effect of one of the changes that was made for 553?:
[Fix] DVD Authoring: Default compliant GOP size reduced from 18 to 15 for better closed caption compatibility.
If you enable the accept non-compliant video checkbox, can you change the GOP size then?

HyperReality,
Your right, you have to check the non-compliant checkbox in order to change the GOP to 18. Kinda odd but thats what you have to do.
Thanks

Turns out that a DVD carries the closed captioning in the GOP header and that it only allocates enough space for 15 frames worth of captions. So we lowered the GOP length to 15 for compliant DVDs. I don't remember if we did it for both NTSC and PAL. DanH will need to answer that one.

PAL was always 15, NTSC was previously 18 and has been changed to 15 to accommodate the CC limitation. The next release will include an easy checkbox in the DVD dialog to turn CC on/off. That way you can easily turn off the CC and then set the GOP length to whatever you want.
