View Full Version : Menu selection problem with 553 & 554

I just created a couple dvds with several (3 and 5) TiVo'd shows. I'm trying to watch them on my DVD TiVo & can't navigate the menu to select an episode. If I select "play", I get episode 1. If I try navigation buttons, I get a bong.

I noticed this with a DVD created with 553. Problem still exists with 554. Don't know when it stopped working. I know DVDs in December worked.

When I added the feature for changing the DVD display mode I made it apply to 16:9 menus as well as 16:9 titles. It's possible that 16:9 menus require something other then the "auto" setting to work properly in this situation. Can you try creating the same DVD again, but this time change the "DVD Display Mode" to letterbox and see if that helps? It was hard coded to "letterbox" mode a few versions back, so this will confirm if my theory is correct or not.

I just threw a 16:9 menu on some 4:3 files and the navigation issue seems resolved for the problems that I was seeing. I'll make a short, full, 16:9 disk as soon as I can. Don't know if the OP had the exact same trouple as I did, however.

edit: Just made a short disk of Torchwood, Declassified (16:9) and the menu seems OK for me.

So are you saying that this is magically fixed? Or that you forced the DVD display mode to "letterbox" and that fixed it?

I forced the DVD display mode to "letterbox" per your suggestion. (once I figured out where that option was) Sorry I wasn't more specific about my steps.

Sorry for the delay -- I've been out.

Yesterday, I made several DVDs with 555. On the first, menu's were great. On the rest, no joy. These are all SD chopped-up TiVo files. The one that worked was 3-title., the others that failed were 2-title, 4-title, and 5-title.

I'm trying to play back on a DVD TiVo (a Humax). In the TiVo settings, the TV format was set to 16:9 -- I changed to 4:3, no joy. Also changed "Letterbox" to "Pan&Scan", no joy.

Is there a setting I should be trying when creating the DVD -- ie in VideoReDo?

Sorry again for the delay. I'll back around & will be quicker this time.
