Is there any work around to enter the media access key and install the tivo codec so I can edit tivo files with VRD without installing Tivo desktop? I use galleon to copy files and I really hate how intrusive the tivo software is. It always runs and crashes if you try to shut it down. I am a resource Nazi and I just can't stand having tivo desktop on my system.

What I have done is to install TiVo Desktop and then make the TiVo services manual start so they do not start and use resources.

I installed TiVo Desktop on my server and I was able to convert to mpg seamlessly. The only problem is my server is not the computer I want to edit video on. I guess I will suffer and edit TiVo on the server and everything else on my other computer. This is my only complaint with VideoReDo so I guess that is pretty good.

A week and a half ago I sent an e-mail to customer support asking if I purchase VideoRedo if the license will allow me to install it on my Tivo Desktop PC and my laptop. They still haven't answered. Thankfully I discovered how horrible their customer service is before I dropped any cash.

We respond in less than 24 hours and ususally within less than 12.

If you used the email address associated with your member name here, no email arrived.

Are you certain you sent it to support@videoredo.com?

You would have also received an autoresponse notice.

To bypass Tivo Desktop altogether, and not use Tivo's dll at all (flaky, at least to 2.5) use instead Tivodecode and a companion GUI program called WinTivodecode, along with TivoPlayList. Then use TivoPlayList to transfer from your Tivo to your PC, and WinTivodecode to convert from .tivo to .mpg, then VideoReDo to edit the mpg.

Works perfectly, with zero background processes. Of course, you give up the ability to transfer back to the Tivo (TTCB) but I don't do that at all.

I'm new to the process of transferring .tivo files to my Zune. It looks like VideoReDo with TVAP come highly recommended for the process. Can someone walk me through the process? I'm interested in having it take as few steps as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Rick, welcome to the forum. I use TVAP and yes, it's a great companion to VRD. I'd recommend reading through the TVAP (http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/showthread.php?t=4712) thread then post a new thread if you have any further questions (rather than continuing it in this one since it's OT).
