I really like the ability of the program to edit directly my DVB-T stuff recorded from UK TV. However, most of this is broadcast with the bitrate set at 15mbs (although it's never anywhere near this), which makes the file get rejected by most DVD authoring software as it's outside the DVD spec. It would be really nice if there was an option to change the bitrate in the headers to be DVD complient when you save the file.
Thanks
I really like the ability of the program to edit directly my DVB-T stuff recorded from UK TV.That's pretty easy to do. Do you need one a single compliant 10MBps or are multiple bit rates required?

I'd opt for multiple...

I guess it would be nice to set the bitrate manually, or have a choice of settings, like 3, 5 or 8Mb/s. One alternative is to do what some other PVA processing tools do, and set the bitrate to the average of the actual rate throughout the file, but that's probably overkill.

To do it properly you would need to scan the entire file first to determine the max bitrate and set the actual bitrate very near that figure. Otherwise, you'll end up with lots of PTS overflows which is where the timestamps get ahead of the system reference clock. Too much overhead, I just do something simpler.
