View Full Version : Audio fixing
THis product is excellant for fixing problem MPEGS and as such it compliments other editors very well. One problem that budget editors do not address is spurious noise that you may want to reduce from camcorder MPEGS. Mini-DV handhelds are notorius for recording the tape mechanism due to close proximityof the drive to the on board mic. It would be nice to filter the audio using a toolset of approprite filters, then hand the fixed MPEG including it's filtered audio onto your preferred fully featured editor.
I don't see any kind of audio filtering or editing at this time in VideoReDo although I've added your idea to the request list. However, what would fit into our relatively near-term development plans is to be able to do this as part of a 3 step process:
1) export the audio as a WAV file.
2) Edit / filter the audio with your own audio editors.
3) Import the audio back into video redo and re-encode it into compressed MPEG audio.
Would that solve the problem?

I do get the impression that stand alone audio editors are better equipped to sort these problems out, much better than the very best video editor.
A major concern is re-synching the audio if it's prcesssed separately.
With your suggestion in mind I used TMGENC to demux a mini-cam mpeg and fed this into Nero Wavestudio. This has a noise analysis feature which creates a spectrum noise filter. It did a good job of reducing the transport noise.
With your suggestion in mind I used TMGENC to demux a mini-cam mpeg and fed this into Nero Wavestudio. You probably could have just output the elem streams directly from VideReDo and saved the TMPGenc step.

I'm using version 213 and I can't find such an option.
I'm using version 213 and I can't find such an option. On File>Save Video As, set the file type to elem. streams in the file dialog box. It was added in Build 209. However, it doesn't work in the joiner output, that was fixed in Build 217/218 which are still being tested.
I'm trying very hard to get a formal release build out this week so everyone is on the same page. It will also give me an opportunity to publish the release notes and update the docs so that the feature updates and fixes are known to all.
