Well the first time I used it, it just locked the machine entirely when I put the pointer at the end of the file. I could not even kill the program in task manager. It told me to turn off the debugger. What debugger?
The second time I used it, I avoid going to the end and just select three cuts on "scene 2 of 5" it tells me "Mpeg stream error: Audio ring buffer overflow"
Machine: 2,4 GHZ Celeron, 500 GB HD ( some on iee 1394) , w2k
Source 1.4 gig mpg file saved with mytheatre from satellite pci card
Playable in just about anything ( elcard, vlc, prisimiq, and even directly when I copy it to video disk as a movie.mpg vfile)
OK... that's twice it did not even begin to work. Once it comletely locked up, the second time it simply does not do what it should
Plonk...

Tried editeng the same file in Womble ( AKA mpeg-vcr) worked without a problem. Check out the FF FRewind features in womble if you are serious about mpeg editing.
Conlusion videredo is not ready for prime time.

I take it back about womble... it introduced av sync errors
Guest, Please try out our latest maintenance release, build 219. You can find it the following FTP folder: ftp://videoredo:videoredo@ftp.drdsystems.com/Betas/
It should address the issues you mention, and not introduce sync errors.
However, if you have captured with an ATI AIW with the 3:2 inverse pulldown enabled, this version still has some sync issues with that. Build 220, due out any day will address that.
I would appreciate your trying VideoReDo again with this updated release.
Thanks.

Thank you I will,
The file comes from a dvb source and is recorded with a twinhand pci dvb satellite card, mytheatre 2.76 software
Here is what elcard says about the file
type mpeg2
bitrate 15 000 000
frame/sec 29.97
Default size 480x480
Current size 640x480
Aspect ratio 4x3
Is interlaced Yes 2 fields/sample
The birtrate is misleading it is set that high for DVB transmission,
bitrateviewer gives
peak bitrate 5525
average bitrate 1763
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: Yes
DCT type: Field
Quantscale: Nonlinear
Scan type: Alternate
Frame type: Interlaced

The inital release of VideoReDo was tested extensively on analog capture cards, like the ATI AIW and Hauppague PVR. These cards create fairly generic MPEG streams.
The DVB sources create some strange variants and most of the updates since the initial release have been to address them. I think we've got it down pretty good now as we are getting lots and lots customers from UK and EU who edit their DVB captured streams.
However, if you still have issues, please let me know. VideoReDo is a new product so we want to be sure we take care of all types of MPEG2 program streams.

Thank you for your help, but I still have issues. The issue is video redo does not work, even the latest beta hangs as described in the original post
The dvb software I use is Mytheatre 2.76, described here
http://mytheatre.phpbbhost.info/portal.php
According to the author, nthing is done to the DVB stream, he merely records it to disk. When I analyze it with bbinfo, it comes up as a program stream, not a transport stream
If you're willing to put in a few minutes to send me some data about your file, I'd like to find and correct the problem. Best to contact me directly via email at support@videoReDo.com

Have you gotten it (VideoReo) to work with any mpeg files ? There are a couple of us with video cards that don't cooperate well with Directdraw and VideoReo. Disabling DirectDraw hardware accelleration gets everything working. This can be turned on and off with DXdiag without rebooting and since I don't play games at the same time I'm editing this isn't a bad compromise for the best editor that I've found. I'm sure it's a DirectX , Video driver , OS conflict that I'm just not ambitious enough to track down. If it works with some files but not others then Dan can probably solve it , but if it locks your system with all files (my conflicts arose as file size rose over 500 Mb small files worked -- usually) then it may be unrelated to the files themselves.
are a couple of us with video cards that don't cooperate well with Directdraw and VideoReoThis problem is somewhat new to me. I only know of one instance of this, a user with a Creative GeForce MX that has something similar. If you're seeing this, then we need to explore it further.
my conflicts arose as file size rose over 500 Mb small files worked There are no known file size limitations with VideoReDo. I routinely edit files > 5 GB and one someone who has edited a 15 GB file (they went overboard capturing at a high bitrate :)

I have not tested extensively, and cannot anymore ion the initial computer, the trial period is up, my comments are only on the file I used ( ~2 GB in length) I do use a Matrox G-550 Graphics Card in that computer
I'll load a trial version on another computer with a radeon 9600, copy the file, and see if I have the same problem
Thanks
A new beta build 223 is available on: ftp://videoredo:videoredo@ftp.drdsystems.com/Betas/
A change was made to the video driver which should improve compatability. There's a new forum topic for discussing the beta issues.
