Now that i've cut out all the adverts from my MPEG-2 files in Videoredo, i need a good piece of software to compress it.
The problem is, my MPEG-2 files are 704x576 16:9 and whenever i try to compress them to WMV they turn out 4:3 and l either loose half the picture or everything becomes squashed!
What would you recommend?

I'm running American style NTSC video, but I use WinAVI (from a web site by the same name).
It will certainly deal with the 16x9 format, as well as many other details.
PAL formats are supported, as is conversion to WMV.
How well it'll handle your particular video , I don't know, but I think you can get a trial copy to test.
I've actually used it to regenerate xvid-compressed TV shows from the internet to full DVD specs.
They don't look any better (they don't look that bad) but you can now master them onto DVDs and play them away from your computer.
