Some of my older home videos are in WMV format. I'd like to get them to DVD, but Videoredo won't open them (says "Editing of elementary streams is not supported yet").

I've tried a couple of shareware converters to get them to mpg, but the results were terrible. Anyone here have any ideas?

Looks like Any Video Converter (http://www.download.com/Any-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-10661456.html?tag=mncol;pop&cdlPid=10902213) did the trick

I recently found myself in need of converting a wmv to mpeg2 and used winff(freeware), which did the job quite nicely. What you need to do though is try to re-encode to approximately the same bitrate and resolution as the wmv file if you do not then the results no matter what encoder you use will be poor especially if the wmv file is low bitrate and resolution.

What is the bitrate and resolution of your wmv files? As I said if they are low bitrate and low resolution then you are not going to get very good results regardless what you use to convert them to DVD compliant mpeg2. When the files were converted to wmv a lot of video information was eliminated and is lost forever.

Any chance that VRD TVS 3 would be updated to support WMV input (Elementary file)? Would be great. I'd not need to process through Pinnacle Studio although that is easy also. Prefer VRD for some workflow.
