View Full Version : Horizontal line shimmering with DVR-MS and DMA2200s

I'm working on a problem with my pair of DMA2200s. When I serve DVR-MS files to them that I've ripped using AnyDVD and VideoReDo, there is a noticable shimmering on horizontal lines onscreen. This is most obvious with onscreen text or when there's elements that produce horizontal lines in the scenery like windows on a tall building or blinds or things like that. This is not at all occurring when playing these files to the PC so I know the source is pure; it has to be during the streaming or on the extenders. One extender is hooked up to a HDTV via HDMI and the other is on a SDTV via Component. Both get the same effect.

I could best describe this as the lines appear to move up-down-up-down every other frame as if they were animated that way. Quite annoying and certainly not tolerable for the HDTV. Nothing else onscreen does this, just straight horizontals.

The thing is, I had bought these two extenders a while back and then run through some tests using trial software for AnyDVD and VideoReDo (and MyMovies, not that that matters for this issue) and there was no shimmer at the time. So I recently paid for these two packages so I could start digitizing my DVD collection, and now I'm seeing this.

The one change that occurred (as far as I know) on my system is that my nVidia card died; I had gone to using the onboard Intel chip with no big problem (the nVidia card was basically for games). So yesterday I replaced the card thinking that must have been contributing to the problem. No luck there- the shimmer remains. I've managed to find one post online where someone described the same effect, but no solution was provided. I'm interested to hear if anyone has ideas.
