I want to be able to save my favorite music videos into individual files on my PC. Here's what I've done so far:
1. I recorded six hours of a music video station on my TiVo Series3 DVR
2. I used TiVo Desktop to copy that recording onto my PC
3. I use VideoReDo to extract a single music video out of the longer recording
The resulting mpg files play back fine if I double click them and watch straight through. But, if I try to "seek" within the file using windows media player everything is screwy. In one video file, WMP thought the duration was about a third of what it should be; the progress bar filled to 100% early on but the video kept playing. There was no way for me to seek past this point. On another video, WMP thought the duration was about four times longer than it really is. In this case I can seek by only using the first quarter of the overall progress bar.
Any idea what is causing this? The settings on all parts of the chain are pretty much the defaults.
