My cable provider (Verizon FIOS) has RECENTLY started "injecting" (very badly) 480i content (read: commercials) into the 1080i stream on my HD programming.
Videoredo "hangs" during a scan for commercials (preventing me from exporting out to ".mpg") when encountering these NASTY, NASTY commercials.
HELP!!!!!
Thank heavens that FIOS has chosen not to impact the Premier content (Showtime/HBO/STARZ, etc....)

Try using "Enable Filters" in QuickStream Fix.
Process the file through QuickStream Fix first, then load the fixed file for editing. Tools>QuickStream Fix
Check Enable Filters in QuickStream Fix and select the resolution you desire to output. If multiple resolutions are not listed, increase the number of samples. Usually a number like 128 is sufficient.
Here is a guide to assist you

This does NOTHING.
It does NOT fix the stream.
The program still "hangs"(become unresponsive).
I still have to reboot to attempt ANYTHING with the program.
The ONLY streams that have no problems are the streams without commercials.
Verizon FIOS has crapped up ALL the HD streams with commercials.

Could you trim and copy a 50-100MB segment of the original file and upload it to us? Tools>Trim and Copy Source File
Confirm that the trim and copy segment has the same problem before uploading.
ftp://upload:upload@videoredo.net/
Create a folder with a unique name and place the file in it.
Send an email to Support @ VideoReDo.com and let us know when it has been successfully uploaded.

A Video Snippet is currently in-process of download
See: "Battlestar Galactica.mpg"
The video file size is: 410 MB (430,098,436 bytes)
If the file size is NOT this size, please advise (for re-submission)
The file is downloading at 144.6 Kbps & should be available/complete by 4:00PM EST.
The "Nasty Insertion" problem is SO bad that it "hangs" ALL of my Video Players at the point of insertion!!!

Finally able to get "Battlestar Galactica.mpg" file to- ftp://upload:upload@videoredo.net/TivoKahuna.
If you ignore the audio issues, you will get a program crash on VideoReDo with either a "play", or an "ad search".
I am assuming that the audio issues are because this is a "partial" file transfer to your ftp site. I kept getting a "stop" command. But, this snippet DOES properly illustrate the NASTY insertion by Verizon Fios!!

NOTE: Playing the snippet with VLC(Windows XP Version) seems to show WHY the snippet causes your program such problems.
Rather than injecting a wide-screen version of the offending commercial that is "close" to the size & resolution, they are inserting a 4:3 low-res commercial that is approx. 25% (or less) the size of the 16:9 1080i stream of the surrounding programming.

The QSF filtering does indeed work to strip out the 480i material, but VRD still crashes because of something with the audio frames. Do you have an application that can play the audio properly?

VRD SHOULD be able to handle this issue "Somehow".
Whether VRD crashes due to audio or video issues is (to me) irrelevant.
I purchased VRD to be my single source converter.
I am not planning to purchase any additional software due to VRD failure.
When will this issue be fixed in VRD?
I am SURE that I am not the only person with this problem.

We will look at trapping the bad(?) audio frames and possibly removing them, but I don't know what good that will do. How are you capturing this file?

Note: What settings QSF do you use to PREVENT VRD "CRASH" ?????

VRD still crashes because of the audio even though the filters work. How are you capturing these streams and what devices or software will play them back without the "buzzing".
