Thread: Program is non-responsive :(

    Default Program is non-responsive :(

Thanks for this -- have been waiting for a while. With the previous version I had trouble with the program crashing on jumping on the editor timeline, so I stressed this version.

Opened a couple of short items, worked fine, then opened a 58 minute, 1080i program. AdDetective picked up 19 suspected "fade to black" points which I started to investigate.

After jumping to about 15 of them (slowly...so that the Thumbnails could catch up - say 5 seconds - before moving on) the rightmost thumbnail stayed grey and the audio line terminated. Two more jumps and the thumbnail row went all blank. At this point F11 would turn the thumbnail space on and off but no thumbnails appeared. Next jump the program went "non-responsive", consuming no CPU cycles. After a few minutes I used TaskManager to terminate it.

On restarting VRD4 asked if I wanted to resume, which worked, and I was able to continue, using the thumbnails, to examine cutpoints.

Need more specifics about the file (Tools>Show Program Info). Is this problem unique or different in the 604 build or did it happen in prior builds, if so which one?

    Default file info

The problem was more severe in the previous release, and seemed to end in a CPU loop, where this seems to end in a "hang"

Was working on a second file and encountered the same problem after about 20 seeks and three comercial "cuts"

Here is the info on the first file:

Can you upload this file, or hopefully a smaller one which duplicates the problem?

In my experience this requires a large file and many (20+) seeks on the timeline with the thumbnails turned on.. I have not had the problem with a small file.

    I will send it tonight.

Just double-checked all the email with search.

Don't see anything with the email address you use on the forum.
