Converting .M4V to .MPG?

Some of my DVDs are foreign-language and the only tool that I know of to burn subtitles into a video file is "HandBrake".

But HandBrake only creates .M4V files and VideoRedo, AFIK, only does .MPG.

I found something called "WonderShare", but it only transcodes .M4V to .MOV and I'm not in love with the UI.

I'm currently looking at something called "OjoSoft Total Video Converter" - which costs about thirty bucks but, on the surface, looks promising in terms of having a clean, simple, right-to-the-point UI.

The freebie "Oxelon Media Converter" *seems* to work - although the UI leaves a bit to be desired. OTOH, the price is definitely right....

The Question:

Does anybody have a tool they know and love for going from .M4V to .MPG?

Or, alternatively, something besides HandBrake for burning in those subtitles and creating a .MPG file?

1. the program, SUPER, will convert about any format to any other.
- it may do the subtitles, I never looked.
- the UI is simple enough.
- apparently, it'll play video, too (who knew?) -

2. I never burn subtitles into my video - that's kinda offensive (and takes a long time).
- I play back on media player that's happy with a separate subtitle file.
- haven't tried to make real DVDs with the same capability, but that seems an obvious thought.

3. VLC is a good media player which will play most anything, if you need something to test with.

Interesting: I followed the link and wound up with something called "AVSVideoConvdrter" v8.1.2.510, whose "About" dialog has both an "Activate" and a "Register" button. But the UI looks almost identical to the OjoSoft product (whose version is only 2.7.6). Until activation, the OJO version limits size of the converted file and AVSVideoRecorder watermarks the output. I wonder if one evolved from the other...

OOPS! Now I see it: the pay-for-play product is on the same page and the freebie "Super" is buried a few scrolls down.

The "offensive" angle had not occurred to me, but these movies are in a language that nobody who watches them will ever understand. And I suspect the separate subtitle file thing is out of the question bc I play the movies via a now-defunct sort of Tivo-On-Steroids app called "SageTV".
