Thread: 544 Video Free: Signature Error

Default 544 Video Free: Signature Error

Gave 544 a try with four 25 min OTA HDTV (720p) segments - Opened them, edited them, saved them as .ts files, and then added them to DVD title list to create DVD. Started the process and about 30 mins. later got the message (title of thread), with option to recover process after restarting VTS.
Thought they might be somehow bent, so tried to create separate dvd files of each. That worked, but VTS couldn't open them, saying it couldn't "read a .vob file" or couldn't "read a .ifo file." (logfile ftp'd - I hope)
    Any suggestions?

    Default Signature Error

For what it's worth, I also occassionally get this error while using latest version of VRD+ to work on an MPEG2 satellite transport stream. When error occurs, I can see which "scene" I am on (the resulting "scenes" created by chopping commercials). To fix, I manually cut another few frames from each end of the scene upon which it crashes. It also appears that the GOPs are extremely long, don't know if that is related.

I have yet to go from VRD+ to TVS because I only need to process TSs, have other things to handle the authoring/burning. However, when things settle down on TVS, or I can figure out the TVS betas vs. VRD+ (Help here?)

Final comment for feature - I also am waiting for VRD+/TVS to accept MPEG4 TSs; my business is getting very difficult with increase in these.

    Thanks.

TVS currently support much longer GOPs than VRD+. So you may want to give that a try.

How did you try to open them?

    Default Signature Error: more

For what it is worth, I also am getting "signature error" on latest ver of VRD+ while processing MPEG2 TSs from satellite box, using frame accurate editing. I suspect problem associated with long GOPs.

When errors and crashes, I can see which "scene" it crashes on (the "scenes" are created when chopping out commercials). To fix, I merely go to that "scene" and chop a few more frames at the beginning and/or end, usually works then.

I offer this here since I think TVS really using most of VRD+ code, might help. Have not gone to TVS since I am using other authoring/burning with good luck; however, will go to TVS once it settles down (and i can figure out the offers and assure myself it won't screw up VRD+) (help here?)

BTW, I tried to post this a few minutes ago but doesn't look like it took.

VRD+ and TVS reside in different folders and can be run on the same machine. I suggest that you try TVS to see if it resolves the long GOP issues.

Tried to open DVD with second option on menu 'Open from DVD folder". ----- For what it's worth, have gone ahead and uninstalled 544 and reinstalled from new download. "New" 544 was able to open the 4 DVD's and assemble them into a new authoring project. It'll be done in an hour - Will let you know the status and will try the original project all over again (authoring a DVD with four separate .ts files) if it works.

    Default 544 VideoFree: Signature error

Installed TVS 544 per suggestion above, and it does in fact eliminate (?) the "signature error". Recap: With VRD+ I got this occassionally from MPEG2 TS from a satellite box and frame accurate editing, and the workaround was to look at which "scene" caused the error, then chop a few more frames out at the beginning/end of that scene.

Have run about 10-12 hours of programming through TVS, from multiple channels, in two hour batches, each having multiple commercial chops, and NO signature errors yet...so I am very happy with it. Thanks good product.

TVS-544 seems very tolerant to faults/long blacks/long GOPs in the TS. I will be upgrading from VRD+ to TVS, presume just click on the internet offer button when lauch TVS?

Final request, which you have seen in "Feature requests" - Ability to input MPEG4 TSs would make this ideal for my business.
