Thread: Burnt DVD wont play on some players

Default Burnt DVD wont play on some players

I have just upgraded to VideoRedo TVSuite and edited and burnt some DVDs, however I have just found out that they will not play on one of my DVD players.

DVDs edited with VideoRedo and burnt using Nero work just fine, but those burnt with TVSuite dont.

They do work on another DVD player I have and also on PowerDVD on my PC.

There don't seem to be any setting on TVSuite that could make this happen.

Any suggestions please. Having to go back to burning with Nero pretty much negates the need to upgrade.

    Many thanks

what format dvd not + by any chance in which case perhaps your player wont read +.Nero possibly sets the booktype which would enable non + players to read it but not sure if tv suite does or can ,

From what i remember once set it would remain set until changed again. This setting was used for all softwares on the pc. I think that what it use to do.

Had to use a blank dvdr+ or dvdrw+ to set with. Maybe now it can be changed without using a blank dvd+. With last few years dvd players, the booktype settings should not be needed. Only ever needed for older obsolete dvd players.

At one time dvd+ discs cost a lot more than dvd- discs. Now the + discs are a lot cheaper, the industry wants to get rid of their stockpiles. This could be because of hd and variants coming. Or because they realise bitsetting is no longer needed by the majority, any disc + or - will do. Also everyone bought - discs, because they used to be cheaper than + discs.

I am using 8X DVD -R discs, so I am guessing that is not the problem. How do we get booktype set if that is the issue, or is that something the VideoRedo folks would have to do with a S/W update.

Robbi have to query your statement on older type players and booktype you may well be correct..Although I thoughtit was not to do with age but a case of whether the player is multiformat .neither my player or recorder will play + discs on their own but they will if recorded on the pc and booktype set. I have.nt used one with VDR suite as yet but will try one later to see if that works..

At the time i used Nero CD-DVD Speed to do it, from the Extras menu. Or Download it from here.

@jaymac it could have been just for that i don't remember.

I think all my dvd players were + and - compatiable, cannot recall this info either exactly now. Early players long ago thrown away, for more more compatible recent players, they're cheap enough.

Not really the point, I could have carried on buring DVDs that work on all of my playeres with Nero without upgrading to TVSuite.

Not sure who from the VideoReDo folsk monitors these lists, but will try pinging them directly.

Did you try burning at a lower speed?

Also did you verify the burn?
