Thumbs down ISO image blank screen

I have been using outdated version (should have upgraded) 579 build on Vista 64bit and was working fine creating files and burning to DVD. I had one I wanted to do several copies and decided to do ISO. Problem is burn ISO to DVD using several programs and only get black screen. Loaded Alcohol 120% to mount the image and the same issue.

All the files for the VIDEO_TS seem to be there.

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
... TO
VTS_01_5.VOB

I did a lot of editing.

I was able to load the files above into Video Redo and watch it fine. I then decided to export to mpg2 and start again. This seemed to create a file that was ok.

I then loaded that into videoReDo and tried to make an ISO again to see what was happening and it took a long time max CPU 4G ram and Core2Quad. The picture was not wide screen but compressed and it was very poor quality.

I am fairly new to this. I don't understand why the DVD's seem to have everything in them and the ISO images do also but won't play. The video and audio is OK because videoReDo can read them and play the vob files ok.

Any help as it was a big edit job and 6 hours when edited down.

Thanks.

OK first off forget about the second ISO you created. It sounds like something wasn't set right in the DVD dialog and it caused a recode. You don't want that.

Second you do not need to create an ISO to make multiple copies. All you need to do is author to a folder. Then when it's done you can manually launch the DVD burner via the DVD menu, select the VIDEO_TS folder and burn a disc. Keep doing this until you're done then you can delete the authored folder.

If you do not have the original authored folder on your hard drive any more then you can simply mount the ISO you created in Alcohol 120% and copy the files to a folder on your hard drive to recreate it.

If it still has a "black screen" when burning this way then it's possible something went wrong with the menu on the DVD and the black screen you're seeing is simply a blank menu. If that's the case then you can load the video back into VideoReDo by using the File->Open title from DVD option. Just point it at the VIDEO_TS folder and it will open the video right into VRD. Then click "Create DVD". When you're in the DVD dialog make 100% sure there are no yellow exclamation marks in the list at the bottom. If there are it will recode the video and you may end up with the squished, poor quality, you experienced before. If there are then it's probably because you either have some saved settings in the Options dialog or the DVD size you've got selected is to small for the DVD you're trying to create.

If none of that shoot us an email at support @ videoredo.com and we can dive in a little deeper by looking at the logs, etc...

I get folder does not contain a valid .ifo file. There is a VIDEO_TS.IFO 12K in size.

I think the problem is I put over 5 hours onto single layer DVD or ISO in this case.

I did open video and selected all the VOB files but they came in as 4:3 instead of 16:9 and quite poor quality.

I think I need to redo the project and create two DVD's unless other ideas.

I have upgraded to the latest BETA.

5 hours on a single layer DVD is a bit much and would explain the poor quality. If you want that much content on a DVD I suggest you use a DL disc instead. The 4:3 issue, and the blank screen, are probably a byproduct of the corrupt IFO. I'm not sure what happened there, but if you want us to look into it more send up and email at support @ videoredo.com and attach your VideoReDo log and the corrupt IFO.

Ok I have found a backup of the original DVR-MS and done the re edit. I might split the video across a couple of disks.
