I always install my apps onto a place like: F:/programs/VideoReDo
And that lets me control how many copies I have, as well as where they store their private files.
Trashing up C:\-anywhere- is more the Windows norm, so I guess I can't complain.
Thanks for putting me on notice.
I'll be sure to change that setting with the next beta-install before running it.

That's really great DanR. Much appreciated.

Anole, I too enjoy the custom paths of system folders:

McoreD, new beta has been posted. Please read the message about updating the registry for non-admin users which have previously run VideoReDo.

DanR,

Runs great! I noticed the default location is set to CommonApplicationData dir. In my case, it was :

H:\Users\All Users\Application Data\VideoReDoPlus

To furhter test the changes, I loaded up a brand new VMware Machine and installed the latest beta 481.

Test 1:

1/ Installed VRD build 481 under Administrator
2/ Ran VRD
3/ Log folder path defaulted to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\VideoReDoPlus
4/ VRD created C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\VideoReDoPlus\VideoReDo.log

4/ Logged on as McoreD (Limited User Account)
5/ Ran VRD (loaded fine)
6/ Log folder path defaulted to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data
6/ VRD created C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\VideoReDo.log

Test 2:

When the Startup folder path is changed from C:\Users\All Users\Application Data to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\VideoReDoPlus, same Access Denied problem arises. This is because Administrator first loaded VRD and created the log file, so LUA loses write access to the log file.

How about making the Log folder path, a per user setting? So VRD can be true multiuser account compatible program.

So it will be typically saved in
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\VideoReDoPlus

Cheers,
McoreD

Done in the next build: 482. Since this makes support's life a little more difficult in that you can't simply say, email us the videoredo.log file in c:\program files.... we've added a new option to help menu which will display the log.

DanR, tested latest beta in another new Windows XP VM and it works a treat. Loading VRD is error free for both Administrator and Limited User.

Thanks for the excellent support.
