Default new user of 1,5 various problems

Hi
---------hold your horses! I've left the text below here for anyone else gets a similar problem on v1.5, and I'd still like to know how to get a screen 'file' of the monitor contents - but I think the sound and 'ring' problems are solved! I was going to wait for a reply, but downloaded the current latest beta ver 1.5 build 213 from the ftp site here, and for the 5 minutes I've used it, it cured the above problems. I have yet to try file playback through various files. Cheers! -------- 8) 8)

I've used various editors, still trying for a good one! I have a hauppage dec2000t which the 'pc' can record tv progs from via usb link (Pal - in UK). Its well known that the DEC files are not true PS, and probably not TS either - PVA has been mentioned, but it is an mpeg2 file, of Hauppage/technotrend origin.

Others on the DEC forum that I use reckon videoredo is really good... of course on my win2k 1.6gig system with 'sblive!' sound card and 'ati all in wonder radeon 32mb ddr card' I'm getting all sorts of probs!

First, how do I save a file with the screen as a picture? I know print screen, to get a print, but not how to save a pc monitor screen to file. This is required for reporting bugs?

Now for the probs -
1. Presumably due to my computer - even on 'wav' sound setting the mpeg2 playback is cut into segments - like a 'judder'. Can't find a setting to get continuous sound. Sblive driver setting gives no change.

2. The software is on 15 day trial with the key sent today.

3. I'm getting crashes where the program can't be closed - needs a reboot. Locks solid. Something to do with incoming file errors during file play?

4. Get that 'ring' thing trying to remux ('save as' function) on all of my existing uncut files from the on air tv recordings. Sensibly, no editing has been attempted yet!

5. Am getting refusal to play some files, at beginning is 'audio frame' problem. DEC2000 seems to start files incorrectly, but most mpeg2 players play these files and I can name an editor (begins with w!) that does very well. (but it doesn't do GOP accurate editing I think)

6. Am getting refusals to play files at any particular point. complains about
incorrect frames.

Basically, DEC files are a challenge to any editor - I know I've not found one yet that can handle the blips and corruptions in the TV as recorded. I get a reasonable incoming signal too. However, I have editors that do better than this one, but have other problems, so I'm still looking for gold.

What I'd like is some suggestions on what to attempt to 'fix' first. THe sound would be useful, get rid of the hiccups. I don't know how to change the priority of the exe on win2000.

Then a method where the playback won't stop when it sees a frame or sound error, - at present it puts up a window advice and thats the end of the playing! Would be nice if at least it carried on playing after.

I'm not 'upset' by these probs, but it does mean the ver 1,5 is having problems with incorrect bits in the mpeg2 files as from DEC, and to be quietly honest it should do a little bit better than it's doing.

Hope some suggestions occur on some points. At present I have loads of patience because others seem to get this software going ok.

Glad you downloaded the beta version. I'm getting very close to updating the release. A couple of little problems to fix. Probably something by mid-week.

In the meantime, enjoy 213 and please let me know of any issues.

Hi DanR
I sure will, hope problems are a ting of the past. If your software can do DEC files and produce non-corrupted soundtrack its a winner. (grovel grovel 8) )

I still would like to know if its possible to get a file, rather than a printer print, (to send you with the log file) of the current monitor screen - only just in case I do get any reportable probs. I'm running all this on win2k advanced server, (I use it as a local server for my website practice) which creates horror in Hauppage's camp. But its just win2k with added stuff, to me.

I think we actually do one better. There's a feature on the Tools menu called trim and copy. Its lets you make byte copies of small sections of the stream so they can be uploaded to our FTP site. It was clips provided by dec2000t users which helped us support the output from that card.

I didn't pick up on this earlier, but regarding the expiration date of the key. If there's a problem please email me more info about it (support@videoredo.com). You email address and/or the actual key would be useful.

Do your Print Screen which copies the screen contents to the clipboard then Start->Run->mspaint then Paste into the Paint application. Next Save As & choose jpeg not bmp for a smaller file.
